Bonner wrote an article about Jay before the season where he said he would likely not apply for the medical redshirt. He said he had already got his undergrad degree and will get his masters this year so there's not much else for him to do academically. Said he's ready to move on with his life.

I've heard the same, that it's just not going to happen, but we could really use one more year out of him.
