I’m surprised by the margin of victory but I expected JCA to win this one comfortably. This score confuses me.
I saw Fenwick live last week and watched JCA vs StL and I’m puzzled at the margin. Just goes to show you that you really never know in HS football. The common opponent game is more or less useless.I’m surprised by the margin of victory but I expected JCA to win this one comfortably.
It’s hard to look at early season results and figure anything out. It’s a marathon and not a sprint.I saw Fenwick live last week and watched JCA vs StL and I’m puzzled at the margin. Just goes to show you that you really never know in HS football. The common opponent game is more or less useless.

A few things to mention. Fenwick had two big INT's deep in JCA territory. One was on the first drive that Jabril Williams returned about 85 yards for a TD. The second was in the JCA end zone, which Devean Washington returned to the Fenwick 20 yard-line. Also, all teams sell out to stop the JCA run, but Fenwick went too far, IMO. JCA completed numerous long passes where guys were literally open by 20 yards.I saw Fenwick live last week and watched JCA vs StL and I’m puzzled at the margin. JCA’s secondary is really good. Loaded with athletesTrue words.
It is a game of match ups.
Fenwick is a good team and IMO, is playoff bound.
Last night they were a victim of inopportune turnovers that avalanched quickly.
It forced them out of a balanced approach, where defensive run support was rarely needed.
With that before them, the Hilltoppers secondary covered well and got into position to break up passes or lay the leather on completions.
especially teams with complicated line play and few returning starters.
very excited for the JCA - Rice game. Will be such a great test for JCA prepping for the playoffs.

On the flip side, I was surprised Naz was only up on the Friars 7-0 at the half. Fenwick has some very nice young talent, but it seems mainly concentrated on offense. Caden Cobb is going to be very good. However, I didn't see much from the Friars defensively. Not sure how they held Naz in check for a half.
And, of course, it's high school football. You just never know how how teams will perform, especially young teams like the Friars an Hilltoppers. JCA had two big fumbles against Laurence. They eliminated those types of mistakes against Fenwick and played by far their best offensive game of the season. The Friars moved the ball against the JCA defense. Those two INT's came on the heels of long Fenwick drives and were back breakers.
