I'll be interested to see what changes Jaws makes as well. In the quotes I've read from him, he claims he does not intend to radically change the offense, just makes some tweaks. It's possible he may not have been entirely forthcoming, though. I know he has a lot of respect for Dan Sharp and would not want to suggest he's going to make wholesale change from what Sharp did.
I do think you will see some changes on the coaching staff. Who will be the new defensive coordinator? Will longtime O-line coach Dave Douglas hang it up? Will Jim Sharp continue to coach?
i hope Douglas and sharp stay.
i think, and this is total guess work, that Jaws will make subtle changes similarly to what he did on defense. I think you will see JCA call in plays from the sideline, i think you will see more formations on offense, and i think you will see us go back to more pitches and screens...in addition to the power game. The obvious is he will incorporate more strategic passes. I think you will see less of a bomb game, and more of the quick hitters.
I've never thought JCA needed many changes. In years when we were not winning state, it was not because of offense. In fact, i'd argue in the last 10 years, we've had 3 of the best offenses in state.
I've also thought that JCA's offense only needed one tweak. Instead of running the double wing, just move to the single wing...I bet Jaws does that and runs it from shotgun and under center.
just my thoughts.
