I'm not sure. The infamous Hanson Stadium light pole block my view. Ambulance did not speed away. It stayed on the sideline for a while. We hope that's a good sign.

Pat's up 20-14. 10:00 2Q

JCA great hook-up on a fade in the end zone to Kevon Johnson. Great ball, great catch.

JCA up 21-20, 8:21 2Q

KeVon Johnson 25 yard run. Pat's had been stuffing the run pretty good.

JCA surprise punt on 3rd and 25 doesn't really pay off. Didn't get the friendly AstroTurf bounce they were hoping for.

Pat's cashes in... 4 y run by Paddy Byrne, 2 pt toss to Jonathan Hamilton

Pat's up 28-21, 2:22 2Q

Is it a bad sign when the partisan JCA announcers keep saying "that's too easy" after every St. Pat's score?

Pat's O is very good.

JCA drive the length of the field but turns it over on downs at the 4

Pat's responds immediately with a 94 y run by Paddy Byrne. 35-21. Can't see the clock because of the sun. 5-ish left in the 3Q

The parents around me were saying that it's a sight audible by the punter. One of the slot backs was left completely uncovered. Simple pitch and catch. Nice to do it to get a first down and keep the ball, trying to run out the clock. Not sure anyone thought he'd go all the way with it

49-35 Final. Pat's will be a playoff team. JCA will not from what I saw today. Still better than 75% of the teams in the area… Just not better than five of the teams on their schedule

Radio Announcers said kid had a bad concussion but would be ok.They heard it from the parents so that is good news. What all is wrong with Hanson Stadium Turf? And why isn't it being fixed?

I'd assume $$$$ is the reason it's not being fixed.

It is old fashion Astroturf like the 1970s and 80s, but it's pretty soft. I officiated lacrosse on it twice last spring, and I was actually surprised at the cushion on both the field in the stripes. Just as soft as field turf, if not even more so.

Back in "my day", when I played there in 1991 versus St. Patrick, The green parts of the field were separate pieces so the stripes were cement.… It was brutal. But great to hear that the kid will be OK. The older I get, the more those serious injuries really bother me. Scary

Only rubbing it in if JCA promised not to try and score the rest of the game!
Regardless whether or not anyone thinks it's rubbing it in, the reality is JCA has put up some lopsided scores on conference foes in the past. I'm sure no conference foes are going to show them any sympathy this year.

Hearing the description on the radio of the play and the kid not moving had me as scared as I have ever been listening or watching a high school football game. The were a lot of people, and I have talked to a few already, that were terrified that the injury was something with a broken neck or vertebrae that could have been catastrophic. I know speculation is always risky but it was still very frightening to listen to. A bad concussion is a serious injury, but in this case, it really looked like it could have been worse.

This is a very accurate post. I know that Sharp, just like Gordie, rarely has passed on the opportunity to add on an additional score. It always seems like the approach was "we have enough, but lets add another TD (or two)". I am talking an additional one or two scores, not 5 or 6.

As for this year, this team will certainly be paying the price for the many years JCA pounded their opponents in the ESCC. I am sure it is still a big deal to beat JCA, and if you can do it by a lot of points I know teams will be more than happy to do it.

Where are the people that predicted JCA to be 7-2, or 6-3?

Well I am one of them and I am right here.
What I saw today was miles ahead of their week one performance.
My 7-2 hope for the boys is gone, but I hold out hope for a 5-1 run.
Ridicule me to your delight, but I will not throw in the towel on a young team like this.
My hope is that they gell and click this year, but if not this year they have the elements to develop into a dominant force for multi-year run.
Go Hill!!!

Solorio is a charter campus who may have had a larger initial infusion of cash upon opening. And the MC community and those who made it out of Simeon, MP etc aren't going to let Gately go to absolute crap.

At the risk of sounding defeatist for both Guerin as a school and Belmont Cragin as a community, would St. Pats consider moving to Guerins campus if they closed? It might depend on how many high $ kids come there from East of the Kennedy.

I predicted 3-6. I don't see that happening. I see anywhere from 0 to 2 wins. Saw improvement offensively yesterday, but Pat's has given up a lot of points this year. I don't see the JCA defense stopping many teams, so it's tough to project many victories going forward. Anyone who watched the lower level games of the Jr. and Sr. classes is not surprised by the results thus far. Pat's, ND and MCC are all better than I expected. I thought the Hilltoppers had a chance in those games. They are clearly underdogs in all three. MCC's close loss to Benet tells me they should be strongly favored in Woodstock against the Hilltoppers. Marian is their best chance at a win, but QB Cameron Thomas is going to give that defense problems. A winless season is definitely possible. We shall see.
