Unfolding on CNN. Looks like it might have been a high speed chase that ended around the Capitol, but not much details at the moment.

What?!

How can this be? Possessing a firearm is illegal in DC! I've been told by certain people that if guns were illegal that crimes like this would not happen.

Lady tried to ram gate at White House

anyway this lead to a high speed chase to Capital Hill about 3 miles.

She got out shooting, they shot her.

Police officer injured in the chase.

I'm sure there will be 25 different stories to come out.

Child in the car with her.

Just seems strange. Most women don't shot use guns much less with a child in the car. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out that she didn't have a gun.

Looks like you were right. Reports now of all gunfire was from police after she rammed an officer with her car. Also looks like it wasn't a gate at the white house but a barricade near the whitehouse.

So did the police overreact? I quit watching it after all I heard was continuous speculation and what I assumed was false information.

I don't think they did.

But did they overreact by killing her? I haven't seen the video.

I watched the video and they tried to take her without lethal force. They only shot at the car when she tried to run over officers. With her using her car as a weapon, they had a right to shoot her. Plus, with the way she was acting, it would have been more of a liability to let her go than take her down. The whole thing is odd though especially with the kid in the car. Just doesn't make sense why someone would put their child endanger.

Doesn't make sense, but she's obviously a nut to do what she did. Glad the kid wasn't hurt though ... is only 1 year old so won't be something he/she will remember and be traumatized for for a lifetime.
