He's doing a great job at WKU. UK needs a coach that can be creative and is actually organized. I doubt we could land Houstons coach but that would be my first stop. I like those two coaches.....any others that stand out? Maybe Appalachain States coach?

I believe your AD/Administration will not hire any head coach with a U of L connection or a coach that has been highly successful at an in-state school (i.e. Roy Kidd of EKU).

If Barnhart had any balls which he doesn't, he would fire Stoops and go after the Houston coach. Offer him 5 million or more to come here. Even then, he probably wouldn't come to this dumpster fire but I would pursue him anyway. If he did come to UK, there wouldn't be an empty seat at Commonwealth next fall, I can guarantee you that.

Herman must be waiting for Charlie to screw up and take the Texas job. But I agree, you have to make the call.

Brohm would certainly be a good second choice. But from what people say that know the family, he hates UK. I think Jurich has him stashed at WKU so he will have a replacement when BP leaves.

Houston coach is building a power, Houston will probably be in the Big12 next season. Houston is now getting games in NFL stadiums and is building new facilities. Houston's coach will now be getting offers from NFL and top college powers.........nah, he'll take the Kentucky job, amazing what you read on here.

Guys, none of these coaches will come to Kentucky

Stoops utter failure at UK is going to be damaging. Coaches want a place where they have a chance to win. If we haven't cemented our rep before for being a school destined to suck *** at football forever, we certainly have now. No good coach will want a piece of this train wreck, so we might as well save the money and keep stoops. He sucks *** but he belongs here... With us. Our program and stoops are like two peas in a pod

I don't believe UK is destined to suck forever. A good coach can get it done anywhere and with UKs facilities and the right fit for a staff, UK can win. Louisville is a top 25 program. The only difference is Jurich will do whatever it takes to win while UK keeps trying to be Mr Nice guy in a crooked industry

I 've heard people say this but I am not so sure it's true. Just because he played at UL doesn't necessarily mean he hates UK..This rumor has floated for a while and the people I know who support UL say it isn't so. There really hasn't been talk of him going to UK so I don't think these kinds of statements hold much water. If Stoops resigned after this season, I bet Mitch would give Brohm a call..He would be a good choice.

Barnhart isn't firing Stoops this offseason with that buyout and Brohm will get grabbed by another school.

Some of you guys need to check Frank Beamers record at Va Tech and look at his first 4-6 seasons.. He might be another one to see if he could be a consultant to Stoops in some way..Talk to him for advice just something to help get this ship on the right course. Bob Stoops should be able to help and I'm sure Mark has already talked to him a lot about being a head coach, but we need to see some results quickly.

Forget Mitch. Only SEC school that would have him is right here and the BOT and President have given him permission to do nothing except put paint on the building.

Jeff played for and coached under Howard. My guess is that Howard would advise him to take the Kentucky job, and he would do great. He will likely get a better offer before the Kentucky job comes open.

First of all our dumb *** AD would never fire Stoops because he loses the right way. Second the only coach he would go look at would be a high school coach not smart enough to hire a real coach. Kentucky needs both of them gone

I disagree with KY not being a job a coach would want. That's just an excuse. The reality is we have a extremely passionate fan base, and now the best football facility in the country, new stadium upgrades and roster with a lot of talent in skill positions, a renewed finiancial commitment from the administration, and relatively low expectations for anything other than making a bowl game and not to be an embarrassment out there. It's an attractive job but you have to strike while the iron is hot with a new hire. Many Coaches have done a lot MORE with a lot LESS that's for sure.

Brohm would be a great hire imo.

After last nights debacle Stoops is approaching Jokers level of coaching incompetence and that is saying something. It's one thing to lose but losing back to back games the way we have shows me Stoops is in over his head. Im afraid keeping him around is only going to make things worse if that's even possible. When there's no one in the stands watching games we'll see if Mitch will do what's necessary I guess.

Now is the best time to look for a coach. With our offensive talent and secondary... .. just a couple front 7 juco's away from bowling even in a new coaches first year next year.

So you're saying Gerry Faust is still an option (sarcasm/sorry)
But yes... I agree with you about our AD.... who I think is a really good guy.
I the, really good guy business, he's a keeper (whoops, there I go again/sarcasm)

So we have a coach... Rich Brooks, who did pretty good, but really got nothing for the effort... No recruiting room, no stadium improvements, no state-of-the-art training/practice facility... All he got was pissed on and pissed off, because promises weren't kept (so the story goes)... NOW, apparently, we've come onto $$$$$ and built the stuff a winning coach wanted for a less than .500 guy...... WOW!!!! Look what Mitch has done!!! He's done all this improvement stuff... He must be the best AD ever!!!!! Bull hockey!!!! That's funny money from media and TV deals... Mitch been loosing fans faster than games... Who's the worst AD we ever had? I don't know .... But the best AD we've ever had, hasn't been here yet... The best AD is the one that gets this football program up to SEC standards and that ain't Mitch Barnhart!!!

UK better find a way, find a man, find MEN/plural.... If football is the cash cow most think it is, UK in t r o u b l e ...

Sometimes you gotta hit rock bottom they say....

we have the ability to get a good coach. our facilities are much improved, and stoops has proven that you can recruit to here. if i was a coach, i would be looking at the talent here and wanting the job.

Jeff,IMO, would interview with Mitch and entertain an offer. The vast majority of coaches in Jeff's current situation would. I.e, the chance to move from CUSA to the SEC, just one example.
That said, I just don't think it's in his DNA to accept if offered. Let's not forget he may have other offers on the table.

Just curious.. say UK was to get a new coach and go to 2 music city bowl games next year and the year following. How much money does UK get from each of those level of bowls for just themselves and not shared? Or is it all shared?

Being a head coach in a P5 job is a dream of Jeff Brohm. One thing most fans don't understand is just because a person played at or coached a school doesn't mean they won't take a job at another certain school.
That's a very narrow minded thought. If UK came calling, Brohm would jump on the job I bet.

He didn't set the world on fire but Rich Brooks took us to 4 bowls. People then said we need a coach to take us to the next level. Well we got one to
