Every Tuesday when I watch the playoff top 25 show, I feel a whole lot better about how strong our footing is where we are ranked after listening to Long's interview. He's the one reporting the only opinions that really matter, and he said tonight that our position is strong, just like he said a couple of times when we were ranked #1.

He added this week that the committee took into consideration that teams we have beat have been ranked this year even if they're not right now, which leads me to believe that there's not an arbitrary line between #25 and #26 that separates quality wins from just wins.

He also said we are fine UNTIL championships are decided. That will vault a one loss Big 12/B1G over us. We need upsets or make reservations for Miami.

What's the point then?

He also said we are fine UNTIL championships are decided. That will vault a one loss Big 12/B1G over us. We need upsets or make reservations for Miami.

They should cut the **** and set up a playoff solely of conference champions. Either make the reservations for conference champs or acknowledge that #1 of Conf A can be worse than #2 of Conf B.

But the Bug 12 will crown a champion and Baylor plays KSU on the same day as the conference championships.

I think a playoff of conference champs is what they want. One will be left out by default since there are 5 power five conferences. Leaving a second champion out in favor of a #2 somewhere else would have to be obvious. Long has said that 4-7 are very close right now.

yes, but it will prevent either of the big 12 champs from claiming another game on us with a max limit of 12 games for either TCU or Baylor. at that point, the committee will have to look at loss vs loss for each team. we have the best loss. i also suspect that the regular season champ of the big 12 will be treated as a division champ in our scenario. essentially, thats what it is. my guess is that will lessen its impact.

Good thing it doesn't matter what you think.

I think a playoff of conference champs is what they want.

You seem to just be dying to go to a bowl in Florida. If we lose this weekend you'll get your chance. Otherwise, we're in good shape.

Nope. Just a realist. Don't worry, with a couple of upsets you can put away your Marion colored glasses.

The only problem is that you share the opinion of ESPN and not the committee. Not very realistic if you ask me, which you didnt.**

Long say "we will add it to their resume."

Also noticed David Pollack wasn't there tonight. Guess they were tired of him defending the #secbias.

According to his answer about Virginia Tech the ranked comment only applies to CFP rank.
If that's strictly true only for the date of the game, that does us no good other than that UM will be ranked when we beat them.
I think he's going to have to defend the dichotomy, and the best way to do that will be to say our key wins were ranked in the CFP at one time or another (Auburn was #3 even after our loss, LSU got as high as #16 in week 11, and TAMU was #23 in week 12).
The talking heads won't like it, but we all know the reality of the situation, and injuries, suspensions, momentum, etc, all play a part in real life results.

The other interesting thing was the focus on beating teams with a .500 or better record. Right now, the only teams we've faced with guaranteed losing records are Vandy and USM (I assume even FCS UT-Martin counts). We need to pull for UK and UAB this weekend to boost that stat even more, and there are several other implications as to who we should be backing in various games.

If the Big 12 can claim a regular season title...

...then we should be able to as well if we win this weekend

It's crazy they (Herbstreit) now stressed we had had no more good wins now but Auburn. And then went on to say our best 2 wins were Aub and probably Arkansas. Who in the hell do they think gave LSU, Ark, Aub, A&M, OM their losses?

espn was busy parading us around during our big wins. we floated or plowed to the top. meanwhile, osu continued to plow through their ONE tough game. galloway could see from the get go that there is no comparison, and under valued us. herb, on the other hand, could not see it quick enough. he is doing his best crawfish now. as for certain other douche nozzles, they are just happy we arent messing things up for bama. state winning the sec screws with the party of so many entities.

i got one thing to say: WAR damn EAGLE!
