And the shot clock. Sure, a 3 point line would have provided more points, but when Bob Boyd's offense limits you to under 20 shots a game it's hard to accomplish much.

I worked for a firm in Houston thst had great seats for the Rockets. I had a client who was a State grad, so I got the firm's seats for a Utah Jazz game so we could watch Malone.

That afternoon, the Jazz traded Malone to the Sixers for Hornacek. We still had fun at the game, but it put a damper on our bonding experience

The Rockets won the championship that year, so at least we had that.

I remember going to basketball practice and trying to recreate the shot.

He did a clinic on campus after that. One of the local TV station noon news covered it.

Malone started in the right corner shooting 3s while talking to the campers about shooting form. Shoot, step or 2 to the left, shoot. All while looking at the campers and talking. Did not miss a shot.

After hitting the shot in the left corner the campers started yelling "do the shot! do the shot!" He didn't at first, but then jumped out of bounds at the corner, squared his shoulders and sank it.
