As a fan of Pitino, the one thing I still don't understand is how he built his philosophy/success to climb the coaching ranks has disappeared since Louisville went to the Big East and now at St. John's. He gets tough guys who all can defend and are versatile but he seems to hate shooters/guys who make shots. It's almost a 180 as he was the coach who brought the 3pt attack to CBB and now he's just got brick tossers all over and wants to win like the 1990's Pat Riley NY Knicks. Strange.
He got enamored with that style at UofL and it worked because he wasn’t getting top talent, but he always found one dude like Rozier, or Russ Smith who could fill it up. He surrounded them with shooters still like Kuric as well so it makes no sense to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if after this year he recruits a lot of 38%+ 3 point shooters in the portal.

Yep. Plenty of other coaches have also stated that UK was one of if not THE easiest team to prepare against bc you knew exactly what they were going to do. …..just came down to it the other team had the talent/athletes to match it.

2017-2024 our overall talent and athleticism was a shell of the first 7 years….and we had a shell of the results. Go look at rosters. Toppin would have been the 14th man on some of the early rosters. Daniel Orton and Dakari Johnson would have been the best player on every team after 2020
I get what you are saying but in no way was Orton or Johnson better than Maxey, Wallace, TyTy, even Jackson in our worst year ever. We just didn’t have as many superstars and yes overall our depth wasn’t stacked with first rounders or second rounders at worst. 2019 was probably the last real upper class talent roster we had. We should have a lot better with Oscar’s team though. He just didn’t recruit the right PG and injuries hurt us. A better scheme and those dudes would have won a lot.

The main issue was after 2020 Keion Brooks was your 3rd go to guy, when in previous years it was MKG, Lamb, Herro, Keldon Johnson, James Young type talents.

I'm now hearing 8M in just NIL money. Then the profit sharing what ever that works out to.
The Chicken Man hired and is paying for him he will go nowhere as long as the Chicken Man is happy.
Chicken Man = unlimited money to a point at least!

If 8M is a true number I can't say.

I think Cal actually cares about his players but was burned out and burned bridges at KY and took the chance for a fresh start.
Here you can see the player wonted the souvenir the other player told him to put it back and then Cal to him to get all 3.

If you click video on Facebook it will play.

Unlimited money to a point isn’t unlimited money. That phrase makes no sense in fact.

The requirement that you read this thread exists only in your mind.

What...? Lmao. Thanks Confucius. Got an obtuse comment/quote for you as well-

"Murderer who wrap victim like baked potato have real appetite for crime."

Don't take this the wrong way, and I may be wrong, but some injuries made you guys better. I am wondering if you are better off without him?

The one thing it forced Cal to do, which he WOULD NEVER have otherwise done, is develop his bench. Everyone is going to look at the result and say that somehow Cal did this, when the reality is that circumstances forced this and he's benefiting, just like he benefited from his team taking the title in 2012.

We saw what happened in 2015 when he had the title in his hands and jumped up and down on it, crushing it to bits, leaving his second team languishing on the bench against Wisconsin while he did something they'd not done the entire season.

The backups that got playing time this year due to injuries to starters would NEVER have gotten that time, and as we saw for years, the team would have struggled for a few more games, and maybe just enough to not make the tournament, if the team remained healthy.
