Maybe Jeff misunderstood. Billy would have said he wasn't tough enough to play at Kentucky.
I heard so many stories of Billy G being a prick to people in Lexington back then he was here
He said Billy literally just called him one day and told him he wasn’t good enough LOL. It’s like why did you go outta your way to call a recruit just to say that? And Jeff never even considered Kentucky. LOL
What Billy G actually said was this isn't the university of Jeff Teague.
Side note is i have seen a few clips from that podcast and they're hilarious. There's a clip where they talked about Lamar Odom saying Kobe came to him and a dream and said the afterlife ain't lit and i had it on a loop for 10 minutes the first time i watched it. I think Marquis was even in that clip
To be fair to Billy G, he had just offered 8th grader William Avery so maybe in comparison Teague didn't look that good.

This is actually a great motivational technique and should be employed on a regular basis by whoever the coach is. Have a guy that’s maligned coach former coach call a recruit tell him he’s not good enough play at Kentucky and then that guy wants to prove him wrong. Reverse psychology in a sense. I think Bruce Pearl making some of those calls might be a good idea.
BCG definitely doesn’t know talent, Jeff was a beast at Wake Forest. When people were saying that Marquis was better than him I was ecstatic, turned out to be false but Marqis did win the chip.

Dumbass and better recruiter are not mutually exclusive. Show me where Pope's brought in as much total talent as PPat, Liggins, Darius Miller, Orton, and Jorts even though Pope can buy them.
