I attended the JF-LCA game last night. The PA announcer needs to talk less, he appeared to be broadcasting the game on some radio station in addition to PA. He talked entire game. Very annoying.

Exactly! He was so annoying. It drove the Amherst fans crazy. Our fans were still talking about it last night. I’ve never heard anyone narrate a game like that.
PAs are like longsnappers, you're not really supposed to notice them and it's only ever a bad thing when you do.
Blacksburg used to have a really annoying one, not sure if they still do or not because Salem hasn't played a game at Blacksburg since before the pandemic.

The League doesn’t enforce it, but the rules are pretty straightforward. They are the rules you will find in the NFHS Handbook, which is part of the VHSL rules by reference. Summarized, it’s supposed to be “just the facts, ma’am!” (Anybody under 50 probably doesn’t know where that saying came from.)

I know the Blacksburg radio guy went to Chancellor. That was mountaineer mark on VA Preps. He was excellent and has done several VHSL Championships as an announcer. Not to be confused with the stadium announcer. That guy was trying to be part of the show, instead of just presenting the information.
The guy at Giles County was best I've ever heard. Not sure if he's still there. Been years since I went to a game there
