In the literal sense of it, he is very likely a reverend. His practices are pretty impractical, and a nuisance at times, but it doesn't take much to meet the qualifications of being a reverend.
He probably couldn't quote John 3:16 if his life depended on it! The guy is a parasite.

Not to get in a discussion about faith/religion but he doesn’t preach the gospel. He’s disgusting.

I don't want there to be any confusion. I am not defending him. I think he abuses his platform of religion in the way to put himself in the headlines of racial matters.

He probably couldn't quote John 3:16 if his life depended on it! The guy is a parasite.

He may be a terrible human being, but he is qualified for his title as far as education goes. A person can meet qualifications for their title, and still be terrible at it. That's who he is.

ESPN getting attacked by both sides. Perhaps now they will just stick to sports.

She should have just talked about her experiences grabbing people's genitalia just because she's kind of famous. She probably could have been elected president by now.

Please try to follow the discussion. One person being a bad human being has zero relationship to another person being a bad human being.

The blatant disregard and lack of acknowledgment of any accountability however, is right on cue.

I’m not interested in what Hill said.

I’m interested in the response to what she said. And as this thread has made it perfectly clear: White People Stay Mad Online.

Most reverends, preachers, ministers are.

I've been a full time pastor for 32 years now. I know many fine ministers of the Gospel. The poor examples are few and far between. Sounds like you've had bad experiences with ministers. It for that reason that I watch myself on these boards. I hope no one looks at me like they do at Mr Sharpton. Oh I'm sure their are those probably do. Lol

You and Hill would love to control how people respond to stupid things you both say. But you can't. You don't have to like it. White people have a brain whether you like it or not and just because they stand up to stupidly doesn't make them mad. I've typed every message with complete control and showcased the ability to articulate rationale thought while my blood pressure has remained a constant 54 beats per minute. Any persons 'one liners' are cute but often lack substance. I don't care what color you are, but you can obsess over white anger all you want with your petty, uneducated, lacking substance, one-liners.

Exactly Qwesley!! He didn't kneel cause he objected to the flag or anthem. The flag is just a symbol people. He kneeled to protest America!! America not the flag/symbol. Someone earlier posted something to the effect that minirities commit more crimes than non-minirities and that's why the prison population make-up is the way it is. Now that train of thought speaks volumes of how much people don't know about the system in which we all live under. (Nobody in their right mind would claim all old white men are violent because one man goes on a shooting spree in Vegas) And everyone that Kap is kneeling for would not rob or hurt him. Many will shake his hand and say thanks for starting the conversation that the country doesn't want to have. Taking the knee during the anthem was just an attention getter so we all could have an open minded discussion about race. It's a hard topic to discuss in this country but at some point we still need to discuss it. It's the only way things can improve. Now things are much better than they were but there's plenty of room for improvement!!!

I hate how he calls himself a reverend. If he is a reverend then I’m jesus Christ

Yes. He's similar in nature to that POS Hugh Freeze with Bible quotes at his press conferences to fool people into thinking he's a good person. $harpton is the biggest racist in the US and it's not even close.

I think you just made the poster's point.
This quote shows his narrow mindedness. First I would like to know his definition of oppression. Because all of these atheletes of all colors are not poster children for either oppression or actual change agents in the communities where they can make s difference. Every race within The United States have people that have suffered injustice. Many times from within their own race.

The flag was forged on the Lives of men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice that allows for freedom of speech and expression. But choices allowed by such freedom come with accountability and, at times, consequences.

It appears to me they protest out of ignorance as to what the flag and national anthem stand for as much as any cause.

Sorry, not usually political or this long winded but with all of its faults this country is still the brightest beacon of hope in this screwed up world.

That’s a lot of words to say I’M MAD ONLINE.

So are we to expect more kneeling? Will the ESPN broadcasters take a knee before each broadcast to support their suspended colleague or realize that if you use being a celebrity to push an agenda it might come back and bite you in the butt?

Lol, and you know she's a bad human being because she had an opinion? So since you have an opinion does that make you a bad human being?

Again, the topic of this thread is Jemele Hill. Not me. Not the president of the United States. Not the weather.

She's not a bad human being because she has an opinion. That's a poor attempt on your part at moving the goal posts again. She is a bad human being because she is an unrepentant racist and race baiter.

Beyond that, she is probably a great person.

What is you opinion of her stance and very public racist and devisive pronouncements documented through the years? That is what we are discussing. Not me and not the president.

Being suspended from your job 3 times is beyond the norm.

Nothing wrong with having an opinion, but there's always a chance that expressing your opinion could come with consequences. My opinion of my boss is that she's an idiot, but I won't express that to her for fear of being fired. That would be my potential consequence. You can't yell "fire" in a crowded room without there being consequences, and I can't tell my boss they are an idiot without their being consequences. This is about as friendly and as basic as I can explain it.

The problem here is I don't think you understand what you are discussing. You have said free speech shouldn't come without consequences. You understand that's what free speech is, right? She isn't enticing violence or bodily harm on anyone or anyone's property. If you don't like it or agree with it don't watch. It's your right not to. Which is as much your right as it's her right to an opinion, just the like it's the right of the network to have their own opinion of her performance as an anchor and suspend or terminate as they see fit.

Why do you feel you have anymore of a right to come here and voice your opinion, but she does nit have that same right? Do you understand what rights are and how they work? It doesn't seem so. She's using a platform to promote hers and that platform can decide whether to support it or not. So you think everything else she might do in life makes her a great person, but because she voices her opinions she's a bad person? That literally makes no sense or has any logic behind it. Which is probably why you are so confused and offended by her statements.

A lot of these million dollar athletes come from impoverished backgrounds and they are the voice for the voiceless. I prefer a peaceful protest of kneeling during the anthem versus what we saw in Charlottesville again this past weekend.

Or the peaceful protest in Dallas where the black man cowardly ambushed the police. All races have extremist so be careful when you swing that brush.
