Hs died. MSU 1962 from Golden. He was a NASA mission controller among other things during a long career. I heard him speak along with Fred Haise and an Apollo moon walker (whose name escapes me) at MSU a few years ago. It was an awesome program.
I was there that night too. I like how he said when Chris Kraft and von Braun came through looking for people for the manned spaceflight program he wanted to join but Kraft told him no because he was a civil engineer and they were only hiring aeronautical and electrical engineers. von Braun then convinced Kraft to hire him by saying "We may need to survey the moon one day."Hs died. I was there with you. Happened to run across information on the program and thought this sounds interesting. Really glad I went. I sat about 6 rows back and basically thought the entire time, I'm sitting 50'ish feet from someone that walked on the moon. One of 12 people in the history of the world to do so. Talk about an "exclusive club". How's that for something on your headstone or the ultimate mic drop answer to "tell us something interesting about yourself" .... I walked on the moon.Hs died.
