Maybe because football is not the most important thing to some people. I believe Meyer when he says he is leaving for family reasons. You can make all the money in the world and work for the greatest people, but as a guy it's tough to miss watching your family grow up and not always getting to be involved. I wouldn't know this firsthand because I don't have kids yet, but I can imagine what he's going through.

Even though him leaving causes us more stress dealing with Mullen possibly leaving, I hope everything works out for Meyer. I think he made the right decision, because in the end it's HIS decision. He doesn't owe Florida or the fans or recruits anything. It's his life and he can do whatever he wants.

I took a 50% pay cut to do it. But I get my 3 kids (all under the age of 5) up every morning, have breakfast with them and sometimes lunch. Late in the day they like to come into my office and "work" with me. You can't put a price tag on something like that. It's an investment in their lives I hope will pay off one day. Obviously, I hope my business will pay off too, but right now I'm doing things with my kids that most Dad's only get to do on vacation days.

I understand where Meyer is coming from.

I dont think Jesse is as dumb as you think. Hell, he played at UF and he's always been pretty insightful.

What he's really saying is "How could some big time UF boosters want Meyer gone!?"

We may never know the 100% exact truth, but we know it was a combination of things:

1) He's accomplished all you ever really can in football.
2) The ever strengthening of the SEC, and the time coaches must put in to be successful, and he was burnt out.
3) He wanted to spend time with his family.
4) Stress.

It's obvious it wasn't ALL about family. He got his feelings hurt last year. What he does next, who knows.

Both burned out and retired at 46. After a long absence from the game and the kids have all grown up, he'll start missing coaching and will be back.

but I have to take Meyer at his word. He wanted to retire last year for health and family reasons. He was talked into returning because he thought he could delegate more work, spend more time with his family, and have less stress. That did not work because Meyer is a hands on coach who isn't going to be as successful at not being who he is as a coach (as well as losses of players and coaches). I really think he wishes he had left last year as planned.
