When the winning run scored in the last inning, where was our broadcaster. Of course he was in commercial, that's right, the winning play came while Ellis is running commercials. I've never seen anything like it. It's just embarrassing what Ellis has done to a once proud radio network. It's been going on for years.

Wow what a fair weather fan you are!! Can't even go to the game!!? Jk. But why was there a commercial break? Pitching change? Thought there were base runners with multiple outs?

The problem is that he talks about so much ******** that had no influence on the game at hand that he ends up running over and then has to push commercial breaks in where they can. He definitely is the anti-jack in that regard. I've listened to him talk about his GD chai tea for 15 minutes before. In the Saturday game against OM he talks for 15 minutes straight about all the other scores from around the league. Instead of updating us on what is actually going on at the 17'ng game he is at. I had to listen for 17 minutes to get the score of OUR game.

I don't always agree

with you, Statedog, but you are 110% dead on here. Ellis decides to go on commercial breaks at THE worst time! I mean does he not know a game iz going on? Seriously! They need to fire him. I've never heard a worse announcer ever! His decisions on commercial breaks, sponsors, hot dogs, that dang artificial turf, and Adidas bats have just all completely backfired. Fire Ellis!

He's certainly not the worst but he's far from the best out there. Best local guy I've heard is the guy that used to do the MS Braves and is now working for the big league club. I'm blanking on his name but he was really good.

I can handle Jim in baseball and he's ok in basketball as well. I have not enjoyed football with him honestly. But to the original point, the commercial break nonsense has to stop. it's bound to happen every so often, but it happens at a ridiculous level.

IMO he does tend to ramble a bit on occasion, but I completely agree with you.

I agree with this. He does a great job when he stays on topic, which I agree he gets off topic. But he's very knowledgeable about the game, our roster and the history of MSU baseball. I enjoy listening to him.

Irondawg I think you're talking about Ben Ingram. He's ok except for all of his hotty totty mentions on Twitter. The game was in extras so Ellis should have already run his spots and should never have gone to commercial with the game on the line. Why doesn't Bart Gregory step in and say or do something.

The funniest thing was the runner had already scored and Ellis comes back and tries to recreate the play. I'm not even sure at this point that Ellis realizes what's going on.

Baseball is a difficult game to broadcast. It is not non stop action with many substitutions. There is a lot of dead time between innings, with pitching changes, even between pitches. Some of you folks need to lighten up. The best baseball announcers get off topic because no one comes prepared to talk non stop about a particular team for two or three hours. Jim does a very credible job.

One thing I've noticed about way too many sports fans, they are never happy unless their team wins every game and executes every play flawlessly. Some folks never really get to enjoy the success we have because they are too busy bitching and demanding perfection from everyone but themselves!

What??

yes you have to fill a lot of dead air during baseball games, but that is even more reason to STFU at the end of the inning and throw it to break. The ump only has to give enough time for the pitcher to warm up...so Ellis needs to realize that there isn't time for :60 of commercials AND :60 of Jim rambling before those commercials.

Bart tries to to blame the umps so Jim won't catch so much heat, but this is ALL on Jim. And as a previous poster said, once extra innings start, you should be done with Having to run spots. You have filled your sponsors allotment at that point so you should never ever miss a play in extra innings due to commercial. Jim is terrible about it. I still like Jim, that is my only complaint. Well, and the fact that he leaves the H off of Sixt.

And just to ruin you guys' listening experience from now on, listen to how Jom and Bart both say this after EVERY pitch....

"Now the count is 0-1. That's no balls and one strike."

"There's a ball to make it 1-1...that's one ball and one strike"

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind them saying the count...I just realized they say the count and then repeat it as if nobody knows what 2-1 or 1-1 means. I just want some others to start noticing it so it bugs you too.
