the shocker would have been if he said he was going to play whoever gave them the best chance to go 1-0

We lost our last two games by a combined score of 97-17. We are making zero changes but think we can go 1-0. Did all those coaches and players lose their previous 2 games by avg margin of 40 points? SF is losing a lot of games by wide margins. They just decided to change QB. What a concept.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the statement. The problem here is that it is a hollow statement along the 1-0 thing. Flood suffers from a condition of not giving up of whatever is his first decision.

Flood decided before the season that Laviano gave the best chance to win. It was a one time decision that has not even been reconsidered after repeated pummelings. Same story with Nova. That is a problem. It has nothing to do with the verbiage of his explanations.

A lot of winners seem to use the same phrase. It's just the loser amateur comedians on this board that don't seem to like it.

I don't think the phrase in itself is a big deal. All coaches say it successful or otherwise. The problem isn't the phrase. It's kind of a "well duh" phrase, what do you think they're going to say or any other person with the slightest bit of common sense would say.

The issue is how much do you trust the guy making that decision of who gives you the best chance to win, not the phrase itself. If you have trust in the guy, you don't have any issue. If you think don't trust the guy then of course you'll nitpick everything.

All coaches say that. Football is most cliche ridden sport there is. You can just turn off 99/100 coach interviews as soon as they start

I agree. You should listen to Dave Aranda interviews on youtube though. I've never seen a guy mix so much x/o stuff into responses to simple questions from reporters. I kind of like it.

Flood sucks, but you guys bust his balls for saying the exact things a vast number of other coaches say.

Don't have a problem with what Flood says. I am just not sure he's right.

I'd love to be proved wrong. Or right, I just want to know what we have; not what Flood thinks we have. (As the coach, I admit his opinion is more relevant though.)

Ha, sorry, but no. Flood's braindead repeating of the exact same mantras every single time he talks does not at all equate to a great coach bringing it up occasionally.

Flood's vocabulary at this point might as well be BINARY.

I think the issue here is that flood is saying a qb who has barely won any games gives us the best chance to win. It's almost another way of saying he doesn't think we can win.

IfFlood could keep us at least competitive in games against decent to good teams I wouldn't care about the stupid 1-0 remarks. And it is a stupid remark. It really is. But when you get blown out against every good team (with the exception of Michigan State when Flood wasn't on the sideline) you do add focus to that comment because what, if anything, does he really change from week to week?
