Let’s look at it this wayNot enough improvement to know if its because of the weak schedule or is Brown actually getting better. The BYU game looked good but when you look at their body of work its very unimpressive. Your boy is just an average coach. 3 coaches off the top of my head who are better. Holgerson, Fisher and Rich Rod.
In a 4 week stretch we played Pitt, TCU, Houston, Texas Tech. We went 3-1. The combined record of these 4 teams was 15-25. If you add up the cumulative difference between WVU and all 4 opponents, it equals 23 points. We beat Pitt by 11, beat Texas Tech by 7, beat TCU by 3, and lost to Houston by 2. For clarification and not to exclude the remaining G5 newcomer we also beat UCF is only 5-5. By contrast, had we played our typical Big12 schedule prior to the new G5 teams that joined this year, we would’ve been up against 4 teams with a combined record of 29-11. Kansas 7-3, Kansas State 7-3, Iowa State 6-4, Texas 9-1. This shows me we have not improved and probably would be sitting at 3-7 or 4-6. Pretty much the standard Neal Brown era WVU team.
