Don't listen to these nimrods, Jackson is just fine, especially if you already have a bunch of friends there. Not sure why MS folks love to hate on their own state capital, I guess it's just the nature of Miss. Stake. Just hilarious that the guy asks about Jackson and 90% of the responses are saying to move somewhere else.

I'd definitely apply for stuff at Trustmark, growing like crazy. I mean, do you have any clue at all what you want to do? I think that would help guide your replies.

If I'm being honest I hate Jackson, but I'm 22 with a degree a billion other kids have and I'm currently living in a place I don't like either but have zero friends in or around. Jackson would be an upgrade simply for the fact that I'd have friends (8,000,000 people might live in New York, but try meeting one of them... seriously, especially if you're staying in Long Island).

And yes, I'm more so trying to get back to the south. I don't care about manners, hospitality, or any other north vs south BS but I would like to live somewhere I can have a yard, drive places, and not be in or have someone in my business 24/7.

So Huntsville, Little Rock... How about Birmingham? Montgomery? Tennessee is appealing because no income taxes but Nashville is another hard town to get a job in. I'm not interested in Memphis. Anywhere else 40k people or more anyone on here have experience with?

Out of those, birmingham is actually not bad. Lived there 2 years. Thought id hate it but actually miss it sometimes. Nashville hard to get a job? This town is booming with jobs. Def the it town in the usa right now.

I'm interested. Mind PMing me details? I'll take any work experience I can get. I'm single, I don't have any student debt, I don't have a family necessarily tying me to a hometown... If I can add to my resume and move on after a year I'll do it with a smile on my face. It would be a lot easier to move to Colorado or North Carolina if I had a little bit of savings and an idea of what I'm talking about instead of just being a broke *** greenhorn.

Jackson area is a good place to live, just not IN Jackson. I moved here on purpose and I could work pretty much anywhere.

Yeah, but you have to be juiced in to get one of those coveted jobs. There are people who have paid thousands as juice to even be considered.

Well in that case, I would think Jackson/Memphis/Birmingham would all be good options. Huntsville is good for engineering obviously, I wouldn't go there with a business degree trying to get ahead, those jobs go to locals. In essence, go where you know people and have ties that can plug you in. Jackson seems to be your best bet.

The job market in Nashville is pretty good right now. A big thing against you is that you don't live in the city to which you want to relocate. I suggest using the local address of a friend or family member on your resume. Keep in mind the cost of traveling to interviews, also.

no offense to you directly but why in the world, with a completely clean slate like you have, would you want to move to Jackson? Go and try some different places for five years and find out what you really like. IMO a lot of Jackson people only love Jackson because they don't know any better.

My best advice to you is to stay clear of Jackson. Get a job first and think about what type of career you want later. Just don't get too comfortable and waste valuable time, status quo. But the U.S. has far too many cool places to live than to even bother with Jackson. There are better places to live in the south as many have suggested, but the west coast is awesome if you like the outdoors and beautiful women, along with a nice range of career opportunities.
