Jodi Meeks just pulled a Shan Foster on the Vols. The thing that made that performance...

even more impressive than Foster's performance last year, was that it was on the road. Also, Kentucky is the absolutely best coached basketball team in the SEC. Meeks made some great individual plays, but Kentucky ran some fantastic sets to get open looks for Meeks. The defense played by this Kentucky team is a site to behold. Kentucky is not super skilled as a team with the ball on the perimeter outside of Meeks, but once Gillespie adds those pieces I look for Kentucky to be in the national title hunt in the next two years.

when UK has lost to GW, San Diego (who beat the mighty Stans this year), & VMI under Gillespie's watch. You'd be hard pressed to find any other UK coach who has had such embarassing losses. Nice win tonight (we should all kick Stans' *** if he lets Meeks go off for more than 25 points), but it's just one win.

VMI's or San Diego's beating them the rest of this year...Last year was a transition year for him to change the program...Kentucky will be back under him, thats starting to really become apparent

Gillispie's career will be sprinkled with early season losses like that. He's still in beat down mode then. But when he finally takes his foot off their throats, they are ready to go.

Damn, dude... surely you know what their schedule looks like for the rest of the year. Their only chance at playing a truly suck-*** team is to be a high seed. Look...Kentucky is mediocre. Let's see how they do when Meeks has an off night and only pours in 18 or so. If he only scored his season average tonight and everything else was the same they would've lost.

basketball team. I am glad to see that someone else knows something about basketball coaching. I have heard that Gillespie has been known to have full 2 hours practices right before game time early in the season. Is that accurate?

Last season due to a rather sloppy shoot around before the Gardner Webb game, he had them running steps in Rupp Arena the afternoon before the game. Needless to say, the clean up crew had to round up the mops and buckets to clean up afterwards. He does some strange things to get people's attention. For instance last season he started Mark Coury every game and he probably didn't average much more than 10 minutes for the season. Tonight his two most productive players (Liggins and Harrelson) in this year's recruiting class never got off the bench. Coincidently, a Kentucky sports writer wrote a whole column on Sunday about how Liggins needed to be the starting PG. Gillispie is one guy who seems to pride himself on being someone you can't figure out.

They have 2 of the 5 best players in the league. Maybe 2 of the best 3. That will carry them a long way in league play.
