Interesting, I was just thinking about transfers, in particular, Russle Wilson. Did Wilson leave NC State because he didn't get the starting job, or was it a matter of picking a better team?

Coaches didn't like that he was playing minor league baseball and wanted him to focus on football only.

He has one year of eligibility remaining, right? I can't see him going anywhere but a school where he is almost guaranteed to start.

Since he is a grad transfer, can OSU put any limitation on where he transfers? Would be nice for Nebraska to just have some in depth intel on OSU offense for this season's game.

Actually has 2 years. I was wrong about this in an earlier thread. He came in, in 2015 and took a RS. I guess he graduated in 3 years if he is a grad transfer. How's that work? Would he need to do 2 years of Grad school then?

I believe he's a redshirt junior, so he has two years of eligibility left.

Correct.

Graduated in 3 or 3.5 years and has 2 years of eligibility left to play.

Not coming to NU.

If I remember correctly he was kinda pushed out because NCS had some hot shot 5 star coming in (don't remember his name). To be fair RW stats were pretty average while at NCS.

You know, there are some vids out there of interviews he has done, and in those vids he brings up the fairness of the competitions.. I didn't have the time to listen to it all, but just in watching a little bit, I didn't like his body language and he was kind of hounded by media, and it just made me kind of feel sorry for the kid.. he didn't look ready for all those kinds of questions and seems to be in a bit of a bad place... just the vibe I got... I hope he finds a terrific place that suits him perfectly where he can use his talents.

He probably would have been third on the depth chart. I don't know about LSU, at Florida he would have to beat out Kyle Trask who is having a really good offseason, Feliepe Frank' a big strong armed former 4 star who can run Mullens system, lastly Emory Jones who was either a 4 or 5 star true freshman who Mullen really likes.

If that’s true.... welcome him with open arms, this offense needs a dynamic playmaker at the qb position

So if you were Frost you would guarantee him the starting spot? Because I don't think he leaves as backup at Ohio St to get in a competition at Nebraska.

Even if the school Burrow transfers will announce he has to fight for the job, he's going to go to a school that has guaranteed him the starting job for the next two years. Had he wanted to battle for a starting job, he would be doing it in Columbus.

Frost couldn't and I think wouldn't guarantee him anything. IMO, if he's smart he'll find a fairly competitive team who runs a pro-style offense to enhance his chances at playing at the next level. Wyoming needs a new QB and Bohl certainly has a better recent record than Urban at turning out NFL QBs. Wyoming could afford to guarantee him the starting spot.

Is that what Burrow has stated- immediate starter or bye?

Maybe he thought that Meyer was going to start Haskins no matter what...

well he isn't going to go somewhere where there IS an established QB.. so he has to choose a place where there isn't one... hmmm

for the record, he seems like too much drama already (in my opinion).. afraid SF will see his own story in all this and throw him a lifeline.. ughh

Borrow would probably do well here but I'm not convinced that he's appreciably better than the options we already have on campus all factors considered. His game experience and physical maturity might make him the best option this season, but we're not built to win big right now.

At the dawn of full-on rebuild, the cost doesn't seem worth it. Not just another scholarship, but hindering the development of the younger QBs already on campus, if not leading to more attrition, and hurting our chances of recruiting another blue chipper this year.

If Borrow is willing to compete for the spot with no assurances of a starting position, then fine. But it appears he wants to go somewhere he's assured to start, and you can't blame him for that. Florida seems to make the most sense in terms of need and fit.

It’s too bad Nebraska isn’t seriously considering this guy or he isn’t seriously considering Nebraska. When we play Ohio State it would give us a huge advantage on how to game prep for these guys since Burrow had been there for 4 years! He knows the offensive play book in and out and that could really help the defense prepare. Teams in the NFL do this all the time where they will sign a guy from another team on their practice squad and pick there brains about how to prepare and then cut the guy next week. Obviously this is college ball and you can’t do that but geting Burrow on the team would be beneficial.

I think you're wrong on this. Whether it's logical or not, sometimes a guy just wants a change of scenery. If you already know you lost the starting job at the school you're at, it doesn't hurt to transfer even if it's just as unlikely you will start at the new school.

And had he not gone public with his ultimatum to be named starter or he was leaving I could agree with that. But this isn’t about wanting a change of scenery.

The fact of the matter is that Meyer hasn’t named a starter at all. Since Burrow wasn’t named starter, he took his ball and left.

Let’s see if the NCAA enforces its grad transfer rule and requires Burrow to enroll in a master’s program that isn’t offered at tOSU.
