I bet Votto could pitch for an out or two.

As to his HOF chances, he’s the second-ranked current active player for OPS in a career, and freakishly, his OPS for this season just exceeded his career average with two homers, two other hits and a walk, in the loss to Atlanta.

I don’t know what he’s found, but if he can bottle it for three more seasons, 400 HR’s is in reach!!
he'd probably rather have a championship. going no where without pitching. worst bullpen I can remember in Cincy, and I've been a fan over 40years.
he will be in the HOF...I'd wager.

sure he could, but how reliable are/will they be. Atlanta has proven time and again pitching beats hitting. hard being a reds fan. one of the best baseball towns slowly deteriorating.

Starting Pitching has been pretty decent, the bullpen has been bloody awful. But what seems to happen is when one Starter has a bad day, they seem to string together about 4 or 5 of those in a row like it's infectious. Castillo started really slow this season, but had been lights out since June. he falls off the wagon for a game, then so does the starters for the next two games, and they don't have the bullpen to hold anything if they make a late game run. They just lost 3 straight at probably the most crucial point in the season.

His 2021 OPS has him in the top 10 in the majors, so far for the season.

LOOK OUT SHOHEI!!!

I've been under the impression that if Votto wanted to hit 600+ homeruns early in his career he would have. Clearly he can do whatever the F he wants with a bat.

Really couldn't care less if Votto is a HOFer right now. But glad he, along with the 3 rookies, have made the Reds playoff relevant in August so far. But time is slowly running out and they don't play Pittsburgh every game.

No but we do play them 9 more times. And we have series with Chicago remaining too. Keep the faith
That's great! Allegedly, the Reds have the weakest schedule remaining in baseball. Looking today, I also saw games vs the Phillies, Brewers, White Sox (all in first place), Dodgers, Cardinals (6 games) and Nationals who they struggle beating.

Yeah but look at the number of games we have with all those teams. We have a ton of games left with Miami, Pittsburgh Chicago, St Louis all of whom are out of it. A 2 game series to close the season with ChiSox.....they may be so locked into their playoff seed that they rest guys then for playoffs so that series I'm not worried about until we see what situation they're in.

Agre about Washington because even though they are a steaming pile this year we ALWAYS struggle with them for no damn reason.

I'm apprehensive about this Phill series...We've played Atlanta tough but Bell has made a bunch of stupid lineup and bullpen decisions this week. I don't know wtf is going on in that dugout, just some real inexplicable decisions being made.

Keep the faith brother, plenty of ball left for the Redlegs to lock in a playoff berth.

I like your optimism. They still have a couple guys on rehab assignments too. I hope Bell can manage it well because he's way too easy to second guess.

Drink the Kool-aid damnit. Drink!

It's funny to me how optimistic I am about the Reds while youre pessimistic. Then when we talk basketball it's it's exact opposite. 😆

I don't think you and I agree on politics either. But I respect your opinions and posts even when I disagree which is why you're one of the guys I never simply blocked. Not that my opinion matters, just saying, people CAN actually disagree and be civil and cool with one another in this day and age. 🍻

We good. I don't need to argue.

I think the Reds have a shot with more pieces than they've had in years. They haven't had a full roster for months. Bell has them pulling in the right direction but not a believer in ALL his moves as well. Still happy to be in contention for the wildcard at least. The future looks bright.

Let the good times roll boys..... at least that's what i'm hoping. Naturally I'm also a pessimist when it comes to the Reds but this team is so exciting it's hard to be.

We do have a shot. I agree about Bells moves making me question whether he's our guy long term. The bigger question to me is what Bob Castellini is willing to do this offseason to augment. This is going to be a big offseason for us. Reds have an opening window, but Joey is 37 or 38. Barrero presumably coming up before seasons end at SS. Where do Lodolo and Green fit into rotation.

Even if the playoffs were reached....going no where with this bullpen.
Maybe but they haven't been full strength all year. Antone is finally on rehab in Luvvul.
Lorenzen is back and looks good as well.
Givens has been solid since the trade.

I don't understand how some think he won't be in HOF...in my view he would have to be totally derailed by injury.

The guy lives and dies baseball...in great condition. Just assume he finishes with 30 homers this year, 130 hits, 100 rbi. He missed almost 20% of the season.

It is safe to assume with his new plate approach...more aggressive, less picky he will at least put up 2/3-3/4 of the power numbers per year for the remainder of his contract. 20-25 HR, 75rbi, 125 hits.

By just doing the above and assuming he hangs it up 3 seasons from now he will be right at 400HR, 1300rbi and 2400 hits.

I don't think he will hang it up either. He will either stick with Reds and reduce role or go to AL if DH isn't in NL by then and hang around a couple of years.

Mahle's getting lost in this Red-hot Votto streak. He's been a big piece of the puzzle.

I'm excited about the future. With Greene and Lodolo just about ready and some of the young arms they have...could be great.

Suarez needs to get it together...if he can get back to what he was 3 years ago the lineup is murderers row. Have to sign Castellanos. India, Stephenson and Winker look like stars in the making. Plus the shortstop they drafted...McLain went 4-5 in high A at Dayton a night or two ago, triple short of cycle and 5rbi. He may be less that a year away.
