I was told by the Athletic Department that Mississippi State would not respond to the overture that was made to me, and that Mississippi State would continue to recruit Cam Newton as it does any other football recruit.”

How is this getting out? If Bond is blabbing this to everyone Slive will make sure and screw us over royally any way he can.

Also, why go through John Bond? He's not even officially connected with our program is he?

Apparently, Bond reported it immediately to Byrne/AD and they reported it shortly thereafter to the SEC. Although I wonder how long "shortly thereafter" was...after NSD? Regardless, either the SEC has been sitting on this or their has just been an investigation going on behind the scenes all season. Very odd.

Yes. And in typical State fashion, his guy doesn't end up here.

If he had been an Ole Miss alum, Cam would be a bear.

I seriously doubt he would be stupid enough to just go around stirring **** up. Hopefully, he saw this coming and went ahead and said what he had to say to make sure it was clear that we did not bid. He did a great job by making it clear he was not accusing Auburn of actually paying Cam, but only that we DID NOT.

Now that the story is out there, I'm sure we'll get a lot more info re: timeliness and how the SEC/NCAA has been involved up until this point.

It will be interesting if it did go to the church, which would be tax deductible to donor(s). I wonder if there will be IRS investigations coming out of this.
