I actually think it is a decent hire for the interim. With Tyler Wilson and the coaching staff still there, it's not like they really needed a new direction. They just needed a care taker for a short time before they hire a big name in the off season. Just a care taker in my opinion and a pretty obvious indication that they will be looking to hire a big name long term solution after the season.

I mean they just hired this guy:

I mean, this is just a great day to be a fan of any SEC school not named Arkansas.

Left to become head coach at Weber St. and now apparently is leaving them before he ever coaches a game there. Do these idiots never learn?

It makes some sense too because the upper classmen would still know him.

He didn't coach a single game at Weber State. At least Arkansas is consistent in hiring people who are willing to screw you over.

Guys, he is just an interim coach. Not the full time guy. I watched the Arkansas spring game on Saturday on TV, and I am here to tell you that they have an Aaron Rodgers clone at QB. A hobbit could be coaching them this year and it wouldn't matter. They are going to be very good, and even John L Smith couldn't screw that up. Now the loss of Petrino will hurt them in the years to come because unless they hire the perfect coach following this year, the program will begin to erode. This year however, they just needed a disciplinarian and someone that can lay the hammer down. A care taker if you will. This hire is nothing more than that. The real hire will be after the season.

Be allowed to coach.

That is what he coached at Arkansas. Special teams, clearly Petrino was doing a favor to his former boss who can't get a job other than broadcasting.

Also, I think its great that Arkansas hired another coach that didn't tell his players that he was leaving until halftime of his bowl game while he was coaching Louisville. Just awesome.

Anytime you can hire a coach that goes 22-26 at Michigan State, couldn't find a coaching job on his own for two years, and when he did it was coaching special teams, you have to do it.

WOOO PIG SOOOIIEEEE

Is if they hire Smith for 4 months, then hire McGee from UAB in January after their bowl game.

Just a really, really, weird hire.

Smith is a moron, his legendary slapping himself in the face press conference is just money.

After Nutt left the SEC, Miles had to be considered the dumbest coach in the SEC. Now he is entertaining as hell, recruits loads of talent, and his teams love him, but the guy is dumber than a bag of hammers.

With Arkansas hiring Smith, Miles once again will be runner up as the dumbest coach in the SEC, he has to be pleased with this hire.

There is no "interim" attached to it, and since he is head coach at Weber State it is assumed it IS the hire according to Finebaum on Sirius.

Every other source says interim. Apparently he thinks he can either turn it into permanent or at least get a better job out of it than Weber St.

-John L smith goes undefeated next year and UPig keeps him, eventually leading to their demise
-Upig beating LSU (and ole Les blowing another 1-3) and the bayou bengal's fire Miles, make a bad hire leading to their demise

2 of the top 3 west teams take a tumble and here we are ready to elevate and challenge bama...
