First of all, I will be out of the country for about 8-9 days or so, and I don't know what kind of Internet access I will have. So, I'll try to answer questions as soon as possible- I'm expecting a couple more baseball commits possibly next week.
Like I said, our class is going to mostly be put together in July. Some people acted like we were only going to get Shempert, Garner, and then a bunch of walk-ons.
What I like about this class so far is we are going out of state to places like St. Louis, Memphis, and we also got a player from New Orleans that goes towards our last class. At the same time, we are still getting good players from Mississippi as well.
Shelly will be a relief pitcher for us. I have no clue why he didn't pitch more last year in high school, but he throws in the high 80's and low 90's and he has had a very good summer on the mound. I think we will see him pitch more in high school next year.
We now have Shelly, Garner, Shempert, and DuPont committed. I think we will get one from Myles Gentry soon. Rock Rucker is a dual position player from Georgia that we are probably going to have to wait until August to find out what he wants to do as far as which college he wants to commit to. We're also going to get another left handed pitcher as well, at the very least. If all of those guys commit, that would bring us up to seven. I think our class will end up being at least eight guys on the low end, and ten on the high end in all likelihood. Gentry and Shempert could very well be the only guys from Mississippi that we get this fall. I also think that we will sign a couple more players in the spring. We've done a good job of finding guys that emerge late- such as Hunter Renfroe and Nick Savage. We also got Luis Pollorena late last year as well. Hopefully that's a trend that will continue as well.
