"He's shaken things up a lot," senior pitcher Chad Crosswhite said. "I think that just his presence on the field, with us all the time, he makes us more focused and makes us more aware of things. He's very disciplined. He's a motivation guy, very intense all the time."
With the Bulldogs playing small ball under Cohen, players like Hogue are valued.</p>
"If I do have the opportunity to play and can win a spot, it should be fun," Hogue said. "He's very aggressive and we run in a lot of different counts. And he puts a lot of pressure on the defense. That's kind of the way the game is played now."</p>
"He's willing to push the envelope for things he thinks will benefit the program," said Mike Nemeth, the associate athletic director who oversees baseball. "John has opened our eyes a little bit around here about maybe how some of the other schools in the conference have caught up to Mississippi State."
