It’s the reason why political posting was/is so bad. It brings out the worst in people and just fractures everyone even more. I’ll be honest, when football and sports are canceled, I’ll be deleting the bookmark for a while.

The real issue is that sports has put politics into it's platform. It's been happening for a while and every time it does, the sport involved goes down hill. Yes, people prefer sports with no politics, that includes me. But it's hard to not expect people to react to what sports is promoting.

We divide ourselves. It isn't an illusion it's human nature. We surround ourselves with people who either look, act, or think like we do. It's why this site exists.

Sure, there's something in our nature that compels us to seek out our own likeness, or reflection, but conditioning/nurture plays a greater role in perceiving the "other" as truly other. Are State fans really all that different than, say, Auburn fans? We've divided ourselves into MSU/AU camps, but it more likely has to do with who our parents supported or where we went to college than a fundamental difference in our humanity.
