Can't blame Pope, though, if Arkansas is willing to double the offer. Cal can't even recruit off his own merits anymore.

Exactly. He never would have recruited him here. Spot was given/promised to HS school kids. Cal is going to be forced to take portal guys unlike he was here.

The rumor wasn’t him committing soon, the rumor was Kentucky doesn’t want to get into a bidding war with Arkansas because they know Arkansas will double whatever Kentucky does

It's not really the same "head to head battle" on the recruiting trail as it used to be. It's about who can pay the most money. It's all dumb. Nobody will care after a couple of weeks. Cal lost his fair share of recruiting battles over the years, and rarely did anyone ever say "UK was his second choice"
