Not looking good...<a rel="nofollow" href="http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/924649.html">

Although it's still early in O'Bryant's recruitment, it's clear that he's starting to develop a few favorites. He listed a trio of schools that he's starting to get a good feel for.</p>

"There are three standing out a lot," O'Bryant said when pressed on his list. "Memphis, Ole Miss and Auburn."</p>

So what sticks out about Memphis, Mississippi and Auburn?</p>

They eat Bryan hot dogs in Cleveland?

That being said, I would rather be one of the leaders. That counts for something. But Auburn??? That is strange. No history to speak of. No tradition. No assurance the coach will be here NEXT year much less TWO years from now. New arena.....check.

"With Auburn it's more about education than basketball I guess," O'Bryant said. "If I go there and things don't work out with basketball, a degree from Auburn could help me get a good job."

They play AAU ball for the Jackson Tigers. Adams is a 4* post guy from Brandon. I've heard that if we land Adams, we'll have a great shot at OBryant. Adams will wear maroon and white.

It was all because of an overly controlling Board of Trustees. Two names in particular that are familiar to SEC folks. Recently bankrupt Colonial Bank Chairman Bobby Lowder and YellaWood CEO Jimmy Rane. SACS put Auburn on probation until some issues with the BOT were cleaned up. There was never any question about the quality of the academic programs.

I mean while Auburn is a pretty decent academic school, O'bryant talks about them like they are MIT are something. Certainly know of nothing that an Auburn degree would get you that an MSU degree in the same field wouldn't get you just as well. Just strange how these guys get these ideas placed in their head and then spout them off without any basis for what they are saying.

Anyhow, it's still strange sounding hearing somebody put Auburn on a list due to academic reasons. Certainly it's a quality education, but it doesn't stand out as a program with a solid bball program and first class education like a Duke, Vandy, Stanford, etc. would. I thought it was a strange sounding comment.

i am glad you feel that adams is a lock. i hope that's the case.

o'bryant's mentioning of memphis and um worries me. um could be in line for a good year this year, and we have of course struggled so far. with pastner's aau contacts (and surely dirty hands), you can't feel good when memphis is mentioned.</p>

Stansbury is the one head coach I NEVER worry about when it comes to recruiting kids.

I think the only kid he's lost out on in the last 3 years has been Greg Monroe.

If we can get Adams, Smith, Hood, Ammons & O'bryant... That is five studs right there, not sure what's up with Ross...
