UT and every other school dodged a bullet not signing this idiot. When he was at A&M there were plenty signs Johnny Football could become a problem child. He still acts like a spoiled brat. And like so many great college players, he had little chance of succeeding in the NFL. Two different animals. I much prefer college ball over professional sports and never am disappointed in our guys when one of our Sooners doesn't do well in the NFL except that their dream of playing professionally didn't work out for them. In Manziel's case, I get great pleasure watching him crash and burn.

My question to all -- if Johnny would have led OU to number 8 would that have made it worthwhile? Keep in mind we did not pay enough to Cam and he led the barn to a NC. I believe if Cam would have come to OU that he would have pushed us over the line for number 8. I keep waiting for "next year". Does "next year" ever get here?

If Manziel had signed with OU we probably wouldn't be having this conversation because Bob Stoops wouldn't have put up with "Johnny Football", or should I say Manziel wouldn't had put up with Bob Stoops. That's just my opinion, but I don't believe those two would have ever got along. Manziel would have still ended up at A&M most likely. BUT had he lead us to #8 and turned out like this I would probably be in the minority because I would have wished he had never played for OU. Right off the top my head, I can't remember any former Sooner that has embarrassed his school like Manziel has A&M.

I dunno man...Bosworth did a lot of damage to the image of OU football in the 80s. Not only with his actions at times, but also with the book he wrote.

Boz never did things Manziel has done. Drunk, fighting, missing practices, treating women badly. Boz's crap was tame compared to Manziel...but that's just how I feel so I get what you're saying. Frankly, it's my opinion that Joe Don and Marcus were more of an embarrassment than Boz.

Well most of what Manziel has done has happened after he left A&M. I don't see what a player does after they leave college as casting a bad light on the program they USE to play for. Manziel has done nothing but harmed himself, not A&M.
But I do agree that most of what Boz did was tame compared to what Manziel is doing now. But Boz really tried to hammer the OU football program with that book. That went right at the heart of OU football like Manziel has never done towards A&M. Hard to believe nowadays he has managed to mend those wounds with a lot of OU fans. 30 years ago when that book was all over the place, I would have never expected Boz to be welcomed by OU fans...EVER.
