Please NO to Khalifa.

I would love to see something like:
UK: Theiro
FR: McNeeley, Perry, Chandler
BYU: Robinson, Waterman
portal: A.Williams, Small (if Reed not return), Blackmon, Tyson, Brea, & a good 6'9-6'11 220-240 PF/C with some outside touch.

I would love J.Davis instead of Blackmon, but not seen us linked to him.

Khalifa has his weaknesses for sure but he can shoot, is a good passer and knows the system. I think it would be good to pick him up.

I am just glad Matt Jones does not know anything and all he does is sit around and guess like everyone else.
Based on the ovation he received at the press conference he is liked a whole lot more by the general public than he is by the people posting on Rafters. I don't listen to him, but find it comical how much he lives in people's heads on here.

He's overweight so he doesn't have a lot of stamina. And he isn't built for race track hoops. But he's fantastic as a point/center. Just as good as it gets. And he's a decent defender and rebounder.

So, when people talk about his "weaknesses" that's code for his weight.

I don't know what a weight loss program would do. Some people are just big. And if he didn't have that size would he be able to take the time he does to survey the floor the way he does?

Khalifa is good, he's got one of the best BPM for big men in the portal and his assist rate is astronomical. The ESPN rankings are crap though. I know a lot of people are excited about Peja Stojakovich, but his numbers are terrible. I know he's a McD AA but I mean his numbers are historically bad. I'm talking Devin Askew at UK numbers bad. One can hope it's just a bad season for him but those numbers are alarming.

2 BYU guys are Robinson and Khalifa.

After BYU's coaching hire they seem to think they will keep Robinson now
I've heard Jaxson Robinson's family isn't keen on him transferring again after already attending 3 different schools

His group was the same throwing **** on the wall to see what sticks with....

- Zero clue Cal was going to Ark
- No idea on Reed
- Scott Drew was imminent
Etc

He's been no more of an idea that my dog of who will be here next year.
In all fairness I don’t think anyone but Cal knew that. His coaches seemed pretty unprepared.

I like the sound of that mix.

Also that would be considered a very successful class for Mark! He's not known as a power house recruiter and he doesn't even have a staff yet lol.

I'm sure it's not easy trying to be a "power house recruiter" at places like Utah Valley and BYU

Yeah, I don't understand why we are recruiting him. Lots of much better shooters in the portal, why?

Pope seemed surprised at the audience reaction when Matt introduced himself sitting next to Drew. I'm not sure he's aware of how much of the BBN Jones and KSR reaches, but most likely picked up on it with that crowd response Sunday.

I'm also not sure Matt is going to immediately have an insider, but he needs to gain the trust of someone and nurture that trust so as to not alienate himself again.
It will never be me.

He more than "has his weaknesses", he is bad in almost every part of the game.
- at 270lb, he's slow and can't guard away from the rim (0.3 Stl/gm)
- at the rim, he only got 0.6 Blk/gm
- he is a bad rebounder (5.7 per30min)
- he is a bad FT shooter (62%)
- he is mediocre shooting 3's (31.5%, but was better the prior 2 years)
- he's not even good at 2pt shots (<50%, making him 38% overall)
- but he does get assists (THAT AIN'T ENOUGH)
I could "know the system", but I would have no business being on the court

If he wants to come be 10th-13th man, sure no harm in that. But I don't want him being expected to be a contributor, or be the reason we don't add a 2nd C to the team.

Khalifa is BAD. Bad at every aspect of the game except assists. How is it possible to be such a bad rebounder at 6'11 & 270 (5.7 reb per30min), more assists than rebounds

lol lol lol "he's decent rebounder"

He is a really bad rebounder. Aaron stick-figure Bradshaw had a rebounding rate almost 25% better.

Big man with great defense, decent 3pt%, rebounding, toughness, and can run the length of the court with ease? Yes, please.
Yeah I think we'll find enough shooters and playmakes to make the 5 out offense work but hoping we find a couple of bangers or aggressors somewhere that can hold their own in the paint and get the ball off the boards for us. In the tournament this year the size and aggressiveness around the basket and getting second chance points of all the final four teams seperated them form the pack. Maybe not Bama as much but certainly the other three and especially UCONN. That Spencer kid was a terror giving them second opportunities with his instincts to rebound the ball on their missed shots.

I didn’t watch any Stanford games this year, so I honestly don’t know and am asking this legitimately. What, specifically is that bad about him? I see he averaged just under 8 points in 22 minutes per game, shooting just under 33% from 3 and 41% from the field overall. Those aren’t amazing numbers, but don’t seem bottom of the barrel bad for a true freshman either. I certainly wouldn’t want to count on him as a featured piece this year, but just one year removed from being a high school All-American, I’d be fine with taking a flyer on him as a bench player with possible upside.

52% at the line? What the h.....!
Saw the same on ESPN. That is a bad year from a former McD AA. If his name was Andrej Smith from Idaho Falls, ID we would all be saying "thanks, but no thanks". Instead he is Peja's kid and gets a free pass. No idea what kind of offense Stanford ran, but no offense can hide 52.8 FT%. By comparison, from the stripe Shaq shot 52.8% in '91-2, 63.8% in 90-91, and 55.6% in 89-90 while at LSU. That said, he's a body and we need bodies with some upside potential!

I have been hard on Jones and KSR for a while as usually they took topics from this board are just guessed as they had no contact with the team/staff.

Watching everyone after the news conference Sunday, they are back in the loop with Pope. May not have the big leak like Justus was, but they will get more info.
Pope seems to be accessible and media friendly.
