catching a little hell on his first two picks (RB KnowshonMoreno and DE Robert Ayers) instead of picking up a qb to replace Cutler. He's only 32 but he has coached Brady and Cassell- I'd let him go thru a complete draft before I'd say a whole lot. I might even let him coach a few games before I say he's a stupid SOB. </p>

Freeman? He got a potential homerun hitting RB and a dominant pass rusher. I will take Moreno and Ayers over Freeman all day.

say what qb would be a good fit. They just seemed really surprised that they haven't replaced Cutler with two first round picks.

I don't get the infacuation (sp?) with the "top" qbs in the draft when a very high percentage turn out to be bust.

Orton might not be as hideous as everyone thinks, since McDaniels runs the system he played in college, and the Bears didn't. Plus, if all else fails, just hand it off to Superman back there. If nameless RB's consistently gain 1000+ yds. with the Broncos, I'll love to see what Moreno can do. I was surprised they didn't go with a defensive pick first, since it is wretched.

the pick at 12.

However, I'm slowly coming around to accepting the changing of the guards in Denver. McDaniels is following the same blueprint that New England followed for years. They've faired pretty well. They don't always draft need. They go for the best pick.

I do like the fact that we have been very active in the draft along with free agency. I think we have seven more picks.

I am very happy that they didn't draft a QB. I would have rather them told Cutler to shut up and play rather than trade him and draft a QB and start over. At least Orton has experience. I'm starting to convince myself that Orton will do well in Denver. I suppose I would have been fine with them drafting a QB, but neither Sanchez nor Stafford give me the impression of "future stars." McDaniels said today that it was clear Sanchez was going to be too expensive so they decided prior to the day they wouldn't go for him.

As long as you gameplan to his strengths and not ask him to do something outside of his abilities, he won't cost you a game. I could be wrong because I didn't follow da Bears.

Well that all depends on the offensive philosophy.....and the type of blocking scheme that Denver incorporates.....arent they the team that made the "zone" blocking scheme so popular?

You say that McDaniels runs the system that Orton played in college....which would be the same system that Purdue runs no? I don't remember hearing about any of their running backs, just the qb chucking it around......so if that is the case Moreno might suffer as far as rushing the ball?

The problem with taking Moreno at 12 is the fact that they traded for J.J. Arrington, Correll Buckhalter, and (I think) LaMont Jordan. They also have Peyton Hillis, Ryan Torain, Andrew Pinnock, and Selvin Young on the roster. RB wasn't a team need, they should have gone after Peria or traded up for Rajji after giving up 5.0 ypc last year. Defense should have been the only goal.

With Otepka still on the board he should have been taken at 12. Knowshon would have still been there at 18

is just odd, I have always considered them a top-flight organization. But now, they look like they are on the precipice of a big collapse. If they weren't in such a weak division, it would be far worse.

Or Josh McDaniels could be the next Bill Walsh, we'll see.

Kyle Orton ain't Dan Marino, but you can win in the NFL with him. He's more than serviceable. Carroll, on the other hand, should not be playing football at the D1 level.. unless it's 1-AA
