Josh Morgan speaks out on playing USM

Josh Morgan is a former Warren Central standout who now coaches at the high school. He played football at Mississippi State from 1998 until 2001.

"I would hate to play Southern Miss because I would be scared to death they'd beat us," Morgan said. "It's unspoken, but that's what you're thinking."

For any State fan that has/did/does live in Desoto County or Memphis, there was the same feeling when playing the Memphis Tigers. They are a few athletes away from USM but very capable none the less. Thank the college football gods we had the best decade of our existance and did not lose to them but once during my time in Memphis. Which was 1993 and I heard about it over and <17ing> over. However, we still sacked up, attended the games well, and played them.

You guys (some not all) down in south MS are just going to have to grow a pair. Try being a State fan in a state where you lose to the local school every damn year.

the reason our program is in the shape it's in right now. Too many pussies thinking this way. Well, Mullen and Byrne and Keenum are no longer thinking this way obviously. I've said all along, if you want to shut these fools up, just play 'em and kick their *** like we're supposed to do. We're the 17ing SEC team in this state, not them. No matter how many 17'ing Conference USA titles they win (when was that last one?), they still will never measure up to an SEC team. And it doesn't matter if this SEC team is the 12th team in the SEC right now. Add Southern as the 13th team in the SEC and that's where they'll be ranked....13th. And don't give me any ******** about they'd beat so and so and so and so. 17'em. They are 4-24 against the SEC the last 20 years. They and Josh Morgan can kiss my 17'ing ***.

Mullen and Byrne are turning this ship around. Thinking Josh Morgan thoughts are history. By 2014 we'll be wondering why we didn't schedule a tougher team.

Are you going to continue to be pussies and keep complaining about the series or man up and simply kick their ***?

We did beat them the last two times and it shut neither set of fans up. Just saying.

The whole list of excuses - "it'll hurt recruiting", "we'll legitimize them (just laughable)", "their stadium is too small", etc - they are all made to cover up this little fact. We all know they would have kicked our butts a lot recently.
