I was at the game, JQ absolutely dominated Ejiofor. Strong with the ball and couldn't be moved off the block.Problem is JQ was one of the few that would have brought it for you every play. Pope has destroyed the he whole team. Can't even get the dude a touch. Before any of you say he can't play offense, watch the st johns game and the crossover drive and score over a stud big east center. You just gotta have a team around him that can breathe a little
I am not doubting what you saw, but the stat line for him shows 1 point and 4 rebounds.I was at the game, JQ absolutely dominated Ejiofor. Strong with the ball and couldn't be moved off the block.
It’s already the worst of my lifetime. If JQ has quit, I don’t know that Pope survives as coach. This is shaping up to be the worst UK season outside of COVID years in decades.
Let’s quit calling it “opting out”, and call it what it is, and that’s quitting on your team.So he's hurt right after his dad and "camp" have been unhappy with Pope? Lol, ok. And Pilgrim did say a mid-season opt out wasn't off the table.
I only disagree on ‘20. I believe that was a certain 2 seed and maybe a 1 after we ran thru the SEC tourney. If you are a 20 year old and started watching sports at 11 years old, here’s what you’ve seen of Kentucky basketball:
2016 - 4 seed, 2nd rd exit
2017 - 2 seed, E8
2018 - 5 seed, S16
2019 - 2 seed, E8
2020 - Likely 3/4 seed, no NCAAT due to Covid
2021 - 9-16 record, worst since the 1930s
2022 - 2 seed, Lost in R64 to St. Peter’s
2023 - 6 seed, 2nd rd exit
2024 - 3 seed, Lost in R64 to Oakland (Michigan)
2025 - 3 seed, S16
2026 - Not looking good
Sad AF
Take him to the train station??Anyone shutting it down should be driven to the county line and dropped off!
There were bracketologists who did the full brackets after the season just to give basketball fans something to do. They landed as a four on most and a three on a few select brackets. Joe Lunardi projected them a two seed which was much higher than most anyone else. Bracket matrix had them a four seed using every major bracketology for their algorithm:I only disagree on ‘20. That 2020 team had no chance at a one-seed. They didn’t have many losses but the SEC was abysmal that year. Auburn was the only ranked team they played all conference season. They had bad losses to Evansville, Utah, South Carolina and at home to a Tennessee team that was going to miss the tournament. I like the 2020 team but people often remember this as the “best team going into the tournament”, when they were pretty good at best. In one of the worst SEC’s in recent memory, they were SEC regular season champions — I’ll always take an SEC championship.
Give me that kind of SEC again. I’m tired of all the teams being good, it gives me no sense of pride. I liked the conference being our sandbox that we played around in before the real stuff in March.I understand it’s subjective.
Yes they had some bad losses early with freshmen.
But Quickley was SEC POY and not even the best player on the team by season’s end.
And we had some very good wins pre conference, Mich St being one I remember because I went to that game.
We had just beaten Fl at Fl in the last game without Hagans.
That team had turned into a very good defensive team by the end of the season.
They weren’t pretty on offense a lot of times. But they were solid and Maxey and/or Quickley could go off for 30 at any time.
Getting away from SEC officials in the tournament there’s no way opponents could have handled Maxey.
We were sitting in Nashville on Wednesday of the SEC tournament planning our FF trip.
I don’t remember if they told us that night or Thursday morning that the rest of the tournament was cancelled.
It's sad to remember when we had guards like IQ and Maxey. Now it's duds like DA,CC and Lowe. Talk about going from the penthouse to the doghouse.I understand it’s subjective.

Even if it would make sense from their perspective, to opt out for more money, I have ZERO respect for anyone who quits. And any coach who supports such a decision shouldn't be in the profession.I understand that, but you know that there’s been drama around Louisville, Kansas as well because of Mock Draft concerns. It’s a risk that’s unique to these top 10 type players who already have guaranteed money and can guarantee a little more by opting out.
Wilt like.I am not doubting what you saw, but the stat line for him shows 1 point and 4 rebounds.
I have a slightly different view of what is a dominant performance and that is not one of them.
He definitely looked lost against Missouri ... no question.Missouri was beating the shiz out of him ending up on the floor a lot.
I was about to ask the same thing. What exactly is wrong now with Quantence now?
Reports have indicated his knee is swelling up ...I was about to ask the same thing.
Sure it is.Reports have indicated his knee is swelling up ...

10 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks in just 17 minutes, that was his stat line against St. Johns. That was the game I was referring to.I am not doubting what you saw, but the stat line for him shows 1 point and 4 rebounds.

100000% this ^^^^^JQ is not playable at end of games at this point in his career. Just foul him and Kentucky is going to get 1 point out of every two trips at most at the end of games. If you thought PJ Washington was bad against Kansas State, this ends up even worse.
I listened to all you brainiacs pontificating about how JO would never suit up all October and November. You questioned his character with absolutely no evidence to do so. All this kid has done is work his backside off trying to get ready to play for this team. He has done exactly what he said he would do every step of the way since he has been. After being off a year recovering from a catastrophic injury and playing 4 games many here have proclaimed him a " bust" and I even read one comment about his game being garbage. Now he is out from knee swelling a legitimate concern returning from an ACL in 9 months instead of the usual 12 and I read the excrement you guys are putting out about that once again questioning his and his family's character. You make me sick. The only thing hurt is his draft position. He really might be hurt again I don’t know but that is what the players of his abilities do now
Don't blame his daddy. Got millions from Pope and his future earnings only going to fall the more times he plays for him .With his dad posting on social media after games, seems odd to have “an injury” right after the epic failure at home Wednesday then getting abused at bama. This program is in complete shambles right now & evaluation of talent and character seems else have been the downfall of stoops and now pope.
We run zero offense and the coach’s job is to be his team in the best position for success every PLAY…….mark has completely failed at that and seems to have no clue where to start.
I agree he had a good game against St. Johns but the other games he looked like a "mushroom" you find in your lawn; you never knew when he would show up10 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks in just 17 minutes, that was his stat line against St. Johns. That was the game I was referring to.
Only exposing his flaws the more he plays. Good financial decision by his family. His only attribute is athleticim. Can't shoot and a liability in any situation that wants to foul him because the tradeoff of missed free throws is their advantage. His money is what he can be when basketball is his only job.I listened to all you brainiacs pontificating about how JO would never suit up all October and November. Maybe he really has a swollen knee. Maybe he's rusty after being off and not practicing for a whole year. Maybe his knee is still hindering his mobility some affecting his play. Maybe he has played a little tentative fearing re injury something just about anybody that has ever had this injury can confirm is very real. The truth is any of my scenarios could be just as true as your. Why are so many of you SOO negative ALL THE TIME. You guys look for the worst possible take no matter what thr situation or information availableOnly exposing his flaws the more he plays. Good financial decision by his family. In no way a smart reply to you. But yea maybes its exactly what it is. Pope signed a guy off a fresh ACL TEAR. Always said he would come back. The guy tore his acl. Of course he has swelling. Of course he does like anybody else in the world that had a acl tear and then tried to get back and play d1 sports. Popes just a goof.Maybe he really has a swollen knee. What’s he going to do pay all the money back? He came here to play and he’s getting paid well to do it if he’s healthy.Let’s be honest..if JQ was your son…sitting in the middle of this dysfunctional team…what would you do? Would you risk further injury & watch your draft stock drop like a rock? Bet he is being shutdown.
This may sound silly, but sometime I can't help but wonder ... does Pope recruit the players, or do the players, families and agents recruit him ??In no way a smart reply to you. 877 cash now!! It’s your money use it when you need it! Yea just a goofy dude all the way around running the University of Kentucky men’s basketball. People might not like me as a poster but I’m giving the hard truth. Young people are looking at this program as a joke. Yall keep on horse dickin around spending all day tryna come up with reason to give him a chance. This may sound silly, but sometime I can't help but wonder ... does Pope recruit the players, or do the players, families and agents recruit him ??
Quaintance FT shooting isn’t the proverbial “tells me everything I need to know,” but it sure as heck is a strong indicator for me. We know he came to UK as a BAD FT shooter. That’s a huge negative for a Big, especially one who’s entire offensive game is in the paint. But Quaintance had what – 4 or 5 months – where he would have had almost nothing else he could work on game wise other than FT shooting. Yet he’s no better. Is it a small sample size? Yes, but you can see the shot looks no better and like he’s just flinging it up there on hope. So, did he not put in the effort? Did the staff not direct him? Is he just incapable of shooting a decent half-way consistent FT? It’s the same with his perimeter shot, too. Very disappointing. Top 5 draft pick? So what?JQ is not playable at end of games at this point in his career. Just foul him and Kentucky is going to get 1 point out of every two trips at most at the end of games.
