He played 18 minutes (9) days ago, so tomorrow would be 10. Some swelling sounds more like a 3-4 day thing to me, however I’m not a doctor. I’m starting to fall into the camp of “no more play, protect draft status”.
If his knee is swelling, that alone will delay his mental recovery from ACL surgery. Mental recovery from knee injury can be more difficult than the physical recovery. The fear of reinjuring and impacting a potential NBA future could be massive. JQ is a big strong kid but that has zero to do with mental healing from injuries. Not trying to defend the kid but it is not as simple as saying, "I am playing hell or high water." I think we need as a fanbase to lighten up on JQ.He looked explosive against St. John’s. Games following not so much. I don’t think he decided to dog it. I think the swelling is bothering him.
I agree, but nobody would come if that were the parameters of the NIL dealsKentucky sports media is filled with a bunch of company men.
I actually miss Jerry Tipton. At least he had balls.
That is on our coaches, not JQ. Pope needs to make this statement if HIPA will allow. Our world today is much different Than it was just a few years back.If he is hurt but expects to be back, then just say he's "out for 3 weeks" or something. This day to day stuff just adds to speculation.
I’m being optimistic that he’ll play a few more games. I should probably flush the optimismHe hasn’t played a third of the season and won’t. He’s played three games am I right?
He will play again for us. Anyone who believes otherwise is jaded and making assumptions based on other past experiences. JQ didn’t quit on the team, stop with the nonsense posts about it.I’m being optimistic that he’ll play a few more games. I should probably flush the optimism
Hell did we even get a 1/3 from him!?Paying 3.2 million for an injured player to play 1/3 of the season…so f’n stupid! That’s the only way Pope can get talent. Entire men’s basketball program needs a flush and redo
Swollen knees suck. There is nearly zero mobility.
Looks pretty mobile int his clip:Swollen knees suck. There is nearly zero mobility.
That is my point. Why would you just hand out NIL money to a player that is already injured without some sort of protection in just his case?
Like I said, it is like going to a crap table hoping you get something in return.
Is this method of recruiting worth the risk versus reward?
Not yet, but I’m trying to be optimisticHell did we even get a 1/3 from him!?
I think financially he would be ahead to return to college. I don’t think he will be a lottery pick at this point. The interesting thing with NIL though.. he could come back and make several mil. Hes falling on draft boards and he really cant just play it safe and shut it down (unless he truly has to).. NBA teams are going to want to see something and hes already shown a heck of a lot of rust in the few games he came back.
Before NIL, this guy was 100% gone to the NBA. But now, idk, I could see him kind of having to come back. Now that doesnt mean it will be here by any means... but coming back for a year, prove the knee injury is behind him, and make $2mil. Or he gets drafted 22nd and floats around for a while.
He clipped his pinky nail too deep in the cuticle. He is out for the year. This is the 21st century. Player so not play with minor injuries.
Toughness is a thing of the past.
yupIf he is hurt but expects to be back, then just say he's "out for 3 weeks" or something. This day to day stuff just adds to speculation.

alright, mark this down, feel free to quote me.Saulzall: "
LOL, he's moving 20% as freely as the rest of the team. First it was "he'll never play a single minute here!" and now it's "he'll never play another minute here!"

How and why were you able to watch practice? I thought those were pretty much closed. I’m impressedalright, mark this down, feel free to quote me.
I saw him practice about a week before his debut. I was on here telling everybody that was doubting that he ABSOLUTELY would play
I am now of the opinion that he will not log another minute for us.
Hope to be proven wrong.
the fact that his dad was complaining about his role right before he goes on extended injury leave has to send up some red flags, right?
not sure if this is you asking seriously or trying to gotcha me?How and why were you able to watch practice? I thought those were pretty much closed. I’m impressed

No he doesn’t. He was an asshat who was only interested in getting dirt. There should be a balance there between standard basketball questions, which he wasn’t really interested in, and things off the court which he was all about.Jerry gets a bad rap
He always said most other sports reporters were more interested in being "boosters" than in being "journalists". And he was 100% correct.
what good is a blocked shot if you give it away two fold by missing free throwsYes! Good point! Who would want his top five shot blocking defensive efficiency rating from last year?
Good call, nitro!
beginning to agreejq isn't playing for us again
this group has no chance in the SEC let alone the NCAAWe need JQ to have any legit march chance. At the same time it seems like he is gonna watch until he determines whether we are going to be competitive or not. Saturday is a mammoth game. We win and we will probably get to 5-2 in sec. Lose and I think the ole miss (who is better than Missouri) and Texas become very difficult home games, that’s how the mentality of the team works.
If his knee was swollen, he wouldn’t even be attempting to run or jog.You mean the short sprint? Try going up and down a court on a swollen knee. Ain't gonna work.
Yea dad got mad we didn’t let JQ bring the ball up and throw alley oop to to himself every playbeginning to agree
Daddy got mad & suddenly the knee is swelling
another reason to laugh at UK
HIPPA would only deal with particulars of the injury. Pope can say whether JQ is coming back or not. The staff isn't being transparent. That is on our coaches, not JQ. Pope needs to make this statement if HIPA will allow. Our world today is much different Than it was just a few years back.
Is it nonsense that we paid a large sum of money for an injured player who will not provide any ROI? Stop white knighting for this inept head coach! He will play again for us. Anyone who believes otherwise is jaded and making assumptions based on other past experiences. JQ didn’t quit on the team, stop with the nonsense posts about it.
