don't know how many they were given, but I wonder how many they sold not including the Sonic Boom and the J-Set squad. I also wonder about the cash only for walk-up ticket sells. I do believe we will have 50,000 for this game but way less than 5,000 tiger fans. To me this would be very disappointing for the Msu athletic department cause all of the earlier talk was how many fans they would bring.

They were requiring people to buy a season ticket in order to be able to buy a ticket to the MSU game. Their fans do not buy season tickets. They only go to the big games. They routinely draw 40,000+ for the big games and less than 10,000 for the others.

we'd sell out their stadium if we played down there, and they'd bring their tens to our field.

Why cash only? 1,000 tickets sold, doesn't sound good? 50,000 may be tough to draw, I bet the Msu Athletic Department was expecting to sell over 5,000 tickets to tiger fans.

I suspect "cash only" is to avoid having to deal with bounced checks. Their website says that personal checks are not accepted for ticket purchases. You apparently could buy tickets with a credit card, but would have had to go through Ticketmaster to do it. Also, according to their website, they were given 5,000 tickets to sell to the MSU game, which contradicts the 2,500 I had heard earlier.

The truth of the matter is SWAC games are not heavily attended despite the myth. All these SWAC games with 50-60K in attendance are annual social events. I know the Southern Heritage Classic is attended mostly by locals and very few fans (5-10K) from JSU and TSU actually travel in for the games. I know an ex-UofMem player who went every year to the SHC.

JSU playing MSU in Starkville is not one of these annual social events.

I predict 5K tops in JSU fans.
