Huskers add a 4th QB for this spring.

"HuskerOnline confirmed on Thursday Nebraska indeed has added a fourth quarterback that will be here this spring in Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College 2016 starter Andrew Bunch.

The 6-foot-1, 190 pound Bunch is the son of former Nebraska walk-on wide receiver David Bunch.

"I got the opportunity to walk on so I thought it could be a good fit," Bunch told HuskerOnline on Thursday. "Plus my dad was a former walk-on."

Bunch played his high school ball at Independence (Tenn.) Thompson Station and was ranked a 5.5 three-star by Rivals.com in 2016. Coming out of high school he held seven FCS offers.

This past season he played at Scottsdale Community College and threw for 1,331 yards and 13 touchdowns. He completed 118-of-222 passes in 9 games in 2016.

Bunch is currently enrolled in classes at NU and will take part in spring practice starting in March."

He was part of last year's 2016 class and played/started in 2016, so he should have 4 years to play 3 I believe.

Maybe he will be a scout team QB with Gebbia this fall.

He probably does not get to play in games, but if the chance comes, he could step in to help.

IMO, I would compare his situation to Darlington's...I suppose if TLee and POB were injured and they wanted to preserve Gebbia's red-shirt, then he would step in for a game or half a game to help. Maybe he has the skills to play more, we will have to wait to find out. Who knows, could end up playing like Fyfe did by the end of his career.

Throws a good long ball and has good running ability. I would guess his short to intermediate passing is solid.

To my untrained eye, he looks really good. Active feet, solid runner, good mechanics. It would be nice to have a Mayfield type QB in the stalls.

Can he run the option?

Langsdorf just went for an in home visit with dual threat QB Colson Yankoff. Seems like he would be a pretty popular player on this board if he were to sign with us.

I'm gonna guess that he's a pretty tough kid.

Not a fan of Yankoff, weakish arm.

When Ohio St. scored their first TD against us (47 seconds into the game maybe?), I thought the announcer said, "Now Tyler Durden in for the extra point." I thought that was too good to be true, and of course it was.

I suppose if the kid had a nickel for every time he was razzed about that, he'd be a 20 year old retiree.

I guess the young man from Alabama who graduated and has two years of eligibility wasn't an option. Parents live in Omaha, 6'5" 220 strong arm and can run. This would of been a great get for NU.

Don't know anything about this kid you are referencing... but is he looking to go somewhere and play still? I am guessing if he had what the coaches were looking for, he would have been invited into the fold...

David Cornwell? He is graduate-transferring to Nevada to play for Jay Norvell.

Here is my highly untrained opinion. Dude looks like he throws a pretty accurate pass when totally un-pressured in both his high school and juco highlights. He also looks very T-Magic, Tommie like in every highlight in that he looks at a target and locks on to the target like he is Maverick in Top Gun. Maybe I am wrong. He would be probably good as a third option if we wanted to redshirt a hotshot freshman.

As with every other recruit, if the coaches like them, I like them.

LIke I said would of been a great get for NU. Great Kid

If Nebraska takes a Grad transfer with 2 years left to play like Cornwell, POB leaves guaranteed.

Secondly, Cornwell left Alabama because he lost the starting job to a true freshman. Appears he wants to play so he isn't transferring anywhere that has POB, Gebbia and a transfer in Lee to build depth for Nebraska. He could have built depth for Alabama and played for titles every years.

I decided to put in a little research on Bunch. Here's his cc stats per ArizonaCC conf records:

Completions 118
Attempts 212
Completion % 55.7%
Yards 1331
Yards per game 147.9
Yards per attempt 6.3
Touchdowns 13
Interceptions 6
Sacks 0
Yards lost 0

That puts his qb rating at around 123. Statistically he looks better than Tanner Lee. I was thinking that in order for immediate playing a transfer would need their associates degree, but I don't know the rules. Based on what I think I remember Langsdorf saying, Bunch would not be playing until he's learned the system, regardless of qualifying.

Ignoring stats, I hope we have someone with a cool head and a hot hand.

Only if they didn't qualify out of HS.

He's a walk on QB. He was brought in for depth. If we have a walk on starting and playing over POB, Lee and Gebbia we are in a world of hurt.

no way he starts over Lee - and Gebbia in all likelihood will be out of the equation next year due to a firm redshirt

it is conceivable to me, however, that the walkon could push POB for the backup spot

Oops, I forgot the NCAA rules against walk-ons becoming starters and making it to the NFL. That was just for fun.

Even if he is eligible to play this year, I would find it highly unlikely that he plays for "bunches" of reasons. That was for fun too.

Didn't say it was a rule.
