Not really, one 3 star with offers from Rice and Western Michigan. There are two others committed to Utah and Auburn, however I don't see them decommitting to play backup.

Not many Chad Kelly's are available every year. My only fear with Barker this year is that he becomes complacent in his progress since there won't be competition this year. Would be nice to add another, and that's not a kick to Reese Philips either, just haven't heard anyone say he can really compete for the starting job.

We need a QB asap, not sold on Barker. I live out west and UK needs to send a coach out here to look for a guy there is a ton of talent even with major guys going to PAC-12 or where ever you can still find someone better than Towles and Barker.

Linemen and new philosophies are what we need most. Barker was a 4 star and 5 in some services. If you can't coach up a 5 star prospect then I'm not sure what better you'll find in the Juco ranks. The only way Juco QB would make sense is if we totally scrap our system and run a read option system. Then you might need a quick fix who is a read option QB. Other than that it makes no sense to recruit one. Also Hoak is coming in January so we do have other options as well as depth.

Giving up on a freshman QB after his first real in game action all season? He got to play one game this year. And you're telling me he's a bad QB after that one game as a freshman? Not only that but he was horribly prepared by this god awful coaching staff going into the Louisville game. A freshman QB needs solid preparation. A solid game plan to help him out. He didn't get that. And you're already giving up on him? Can we at least give the guy ONE chance before jumping to conclusions?

I for one honestly think he's going to be a very good QB better than towles ever was by mid season next year. After he gets a little bit of experience is when it will all come together. Regardless I don't see how fans are writing him off before ever getting a chance. Childish to be honest. He plays one game against our schools biggest rival as a freshman. With a staff that didn't prepare him. And we're ready to write him off? Some of you all have no chill in you. Very very rarely does a freshman QB come in and play lights out during his first ever game against their schools biggest rival. I remember Andre Woodson coming in and killing it as a freshman. Oh wait. No I don't! Absolutely no way you can predic how good barker is going to become based on his first game as a freshman QB. Our fanbase kills me sometimes. No logic with many of you all!

I don't know that people are giving up on DB...

It's not him so much him as it is the severe need for athleticism and mobility at the position...as well as the fact that this offense doesn't have a true go to play maker than can make things happen...it's really uncanny that there hasn't been anyone emerge as a play making threat...

If we had a Randall Cobb, Jacob Tamme, Steve Johnson and an OL that could provide some competitive blocking, I would say DB will be alright...but we don't have any of those...

the defensive players, especially in this league are faster and more athletic than they've every been, and in this modern age of football the focus has shifted from stopping the run to getting to the QB...so unless you're Alabama with all pros blocking, catching, and running...you need some versatility at the QB position to have some play making and production as well as alleviate some pressure on the other positions and free them up...

DB still has 3 years left...CMS may not...

This staff needs to hit the Juco and Transfer trail hard to find somebody that can come in and play right away...maybe even someone who has 2 years left...like a Jake Coker or Chad Kelly, but someone more mobile...

I think DB could be very good if everything else was solidly in place around him...but that is not the case...

If there is a better option to be had out there than this staff has to jump on it and DB can be developed over the next year or two perhaps getting some series here and there...and by the time he is a Jr or Sr when everything is hopefully in place and he has a competitive experienced sec roster and staff around him he could be the man and succeed...

but right now we need more at the QB position than what DB can provide...
