Just a reminder for those that automatically expect us to win the series at Bama...

or even possibly sweep. Our current road record stands at 2-9. Just wanted to point that out BEFORE everyone blows a gasket if we struggle in Tuscaloosa. A LOT of things went right for us to get 2 out of 3 over Ole Miss this weekend and unless we find some offense we may not be so fortunate the rest of the way. I will say though that I am proud of the way the Bulldogs are competing given the injury situation. I don't believe I have ever seen a team, supposedly playing a non-contact sport, as banged up as our baseball team. Even a lot of the guys still playing (like Norris, Rea, Frazier and Brownlee) are playing at much less than 100%.

agree Bama has had a way of letting the air out of our balloon in baseball the last few years. Hope we can continue to find ways to win<div>close games.</div>

Bama isn't nearly as good as LSU or USC, or even SELA or Auburn for that matter. But you're right, this team has no margin for error. The pitching has to be outstanding or anybody can beat us.

then no, I doubt Bama pitching factors in much other than do they walk guys and do they hit batters. Our offense right now seems to be predicated solely on the other team's pitcher being unable to find the strike zone.

don't expect us to sweep (and even think we'll be doing good to get one) is that we are like 3-12 against them during the past 6 regular seasons. We just never seem to do well against them. I think we've won 1, maybe 2, games there in those years.

If Cohen's cluster17 hitters cannot take at least 2 of 3 from that team no matter if our pitchers have an off game or 2, MSU has no business even dreaming of post season play.

so we are very capable of losing this series because we will likely have a lot of trouble scoring. Apparently now Rea has a shoulder issue and Porter's got a bad hand (hopefully not broken) to go along with Norris and Brownlees' bad knees and at this point I think you can write off CT for the rest of the year. Unfortunately for us, the guys we do have healthy aren't very good hitters even when healthy.

Also, Vanderbilt lost a series there, too. I can completely see us only able to win 1 at Alabama. I hope I'm proven wrong.

1. Our pitching.

2. Our confidence.

We may not hit, but we find ways to get it done. This team believes that they are going to find a way to win. That's huge. We are banged up again, but fortunately, we don't have any midweek games. It's a good time for us to rest.

I think we're starting to take better at bats lately too- on Sunday, Ole Miss pitched a lot of those same guys against us in Pearl and struck us out 16 times. This time, we stuck out 6 times, but we took 6 walks and got hit a few times to go along with Slauter's hits. We're making progress little by little.

We have the formula- we have to keep pitching well and playing good defense. We've won six out of our last seven. The one loss, we didn't play good defense and Graveman didn't have his best stuff.

is usually relevant in college....and outside of that lineups change so much that you just cannot compare records like that.
