Just an Average Team

I hate to say it. I'm usually an eternal optimist when it comes to my Cats, but all my blue Kool aid seems to be out for this team. I think what we have here is just a bunch of pretty good players- a bunch of role player types. They would all be a good 3rd or 4th options for most teams. Heck, that's what they were before they came to UK. There is not a great player on this team- not a single guaranteed NBA starter on this team. What happens when you create an entire team of 3rd and 4th options? Who can create their own shot? We're seeing it right now. They'll beat bad teams. They'll lose to every good team. They'll probably lose to some average teams, especially on the road. This team shouldn't be ranked at all.

This team's ONLY chance to be a great team is if all of these guys work together as a well oiled machine and function as a single unit. But that's not what they're doing. They're trying to make individual plays and they can't do it. Oweh- I have no clue what has happened to him. He can't finish. He can't make a shot. He's never been a great 3pt shooter. That's not his game. If he feels he has to be that, we're in trouble. Something is wrong with him, in my opinion.

If Jayden Quaintence is a super star, he's the ONLY one on the team. The best thing that could happen to this team today is to drop off the top 25 map. They're not a top 25 team right now. They got ran off the floor by 2 good, not great, teams. We're gonna get waxed by every good team, especially away from Rupp.

I hate saying all of this, by the way. I love these Cats. I'll be rooting them on all season, every season, for the rest of my life. I love Mark Pope. I love his enthusiasm. I love his faith. I love his love for UK. But this team is poorly built and they don't look well coached. That's just the truth. I hope it all changes and I eat these words. I WANT to eat these words. I don't think I will.

It's been pretty rough so far, but I'm not throwing in the towel just yet. An energy guy like JQ could make a huge difference.

Absolutely no star on this team. We didn’t have one last year. Sorry 00 is not it.

Average might be cutting it… If rumors keep getting out of hand we’re dealing with turmoil we haven’t seen since BCG’s last year.

"Average" might be too nice. This team has been substantially below average in non cupcake games and it started vs Georgetown in the 2nd exhibition game. Just a total **** show.

I dont even know if we're average. If guys like Oweh are going to continue to be whatever this is, average might be a stretch.

This is why I don't hire any friends to do work on my house. It makes for some tough conversations when they do a crap job on something.

We have like 10 average players that would all be great accent pieces. I think Pope thought that if he could get them all to play team ball, they could be great as a team, but it hasn't happened.

All these guys are pros now. No student athletes, not kids that deserve no heat thrown at them. It’s professional-no loyalty, no pride. It is what it is now. That being said Brandon garrison is a 6’10” fence post we are paying millions of dollars. A bum.

It's a bad team and it's because the players, who are paid professionals, are playing like they don't care.

This team is broken and it's badly broken. Mark Pope doesn't have the personality to fix this, the players need to help him fix it and Oweh, who is supposed to be a leader, needs to be the one to step up here.

Garrison needs to lose all his minutes… all of them. He is not a good player and he's lazy.

Also, stop doing mass substitutions and trying to play 12 guys, settle on 7 and leave it at that.

I’d play Moreno, Diabate, Noah, chandler and Aberdeen. Bring in Johnson as 6th man and let Jelavic give Mo and Moreno a breather. Play the 3 Kentucky kids and the four that actually seem to try. Let the others go out and argue by the dumpsters with the rest of the garbage. I’d also play Potter and Hawthorne. What are the chances of us keeping them for 5 years without them leaving for more NIL or get pissed off at something and leave. Redshirts are just saving their eligibility for another school honestly. They can’t be worse than what we are seeing now, especially if they give any effort at all.

ps. If Mo Diabate jacks another three, we need to get that woman from that movie Misery and do to his hands what she did to that guys feet.
