Year 4 and 20 point losses to teams that have nothing to play for, just what every lsu fan wanted four years ago when they hired him.

Welcome to the road in the SEC. He will be pulling like hell for Grant tonight to save face.

a better win on their resume than we do this season in Marquette. Their program is trending upward again.

How does that compare to ours? We will lose 4 starters, plus one or two more players...continue to have discipline problems, have an awful strength and conditioning program because of our head coach, and may miss the Tourney for the 5th time in 7 seasons- with next being 6 out of 8....

What are we trending?

In his first four years you have to take it.

You would have to be blind to not realize what a great hire that he was.

only without the one really good year at the beginning of his time at MSU. He still led MSU baseball to 2 of only 3 losing seasons in 36 years, to the tune of 15-44 in the SEC.

Do I believe that or feel that way? Absolutely not. I like where our baseball program is and especially where it appears to be headed. Fact is, if you ever talked to John Cohen privately, he'd tell you that he made some MAJOR missteps in his first 2 recruiting classes, largely with attempts at "quick fix" players from the juco ranks and high-risk injury guys. This further set us back at least one additional year, potentially 2-3 years, seeing how we're playing only one senior position player...

I say all this to draw the correlation back to Trent Johnson. He'd probably tell you the same exact thing, especially regarding his recruiting. He's made some major missteps, no doubt. He got his tail kicked today. He recruited well last year, for the first time really, and he's already proven in the past that he can win with talent. It'll be interesting to see how well he does in the future, because they are trending up right now, JMO...

Bianco and the Bears have high hopes this season. High Expectations nationally. Let's say they finish 6th in the SEC, and get beatdown 2 straight in a Regional. Then next season, you guys dont even make a regional.

Should Bianco keep his job? I mean, he has made you program better than it's been maybe ever, very consistent. Top half of the SEC. Or must you remain patient and keep him around?

I would fire him.

Now I wouldn't say we have high expectations nationally. We weren't ranked in the top 20 of any preseason poll Ive reviewed and was picked to finish 7th or 8th in the SEC.

Missing the NCAA tourney in baseball is way more damning to a SEC team than missing the NCAA tourney in basketball.

Now even you would have to agree that Johnson's record at LSU has been mediocre and if he doesn't make the tourney next year he should be fired.

Bianco felt a little warmth under his seat after last season when he missed the regionals, and instead of the Stansbury "do nothing" approach, MB proceeded to get rid of an assistant coach. Then, he went out and got one of THE top assistant coaches/recruiters anywhere in the country in Cliff Godwin, who has made his presence immediately known on the recruiting trail. Look at how well they recruited last year, and last I checked their early class is top 3 this year. This move and the overall willingness to adapt has bought Bianco quite a bit more time, IMO. I talk regularly to a former OM player that is back in Oxford finishing his degree as a g/a. He said Godwin is VERY similar in many ways to Dan McDonnell...

That said, I haven't heard any ridiculous "expectations" from them this year. They've mostly been alot like us. Cautiously optimistic, although for different reasons(pitching depth vs our youth/hitting). IF Bianco managed to miss the regionals AGAIN this year and next year, making it 3 in a row, while also having some of the most talented players kicked off/transfer out, then IMO the comparison to Stans becomes much more valid.

He's also made 9 tourneys, with 4 Sweet 16s, in 11 years. While he should have made Omaha at least once, it still isn't a very comparable to Stansbury's situation with us...
