Details abound.. had a talk with the head dude for Capturion about when they might light it up, needless to say they are up there wiring away as we speak trying to get everything in order for the new panels.
When asked when they would fire it up, they really aren't sure.. but they aren't stopping until it's ready. Saturday might be the first time its turned on for a test run if the electrical isn't completed before then.
After talking for a while, I was invited in and received a tour of the new media control room, saw the dual 50' lcd's..one playing some espn football, another doing some control testing. Saw all the new racks and equipment, the blueprints for the panel layout and redundancy controls. Needless to say guys, if everyone doesn't figured out by yet..this stuff is a big deal, and very cutting edge. This will be seriously not only one of the biggest, but the best in the nation. Hopefully we learn how to use it to it's potential unlike our neighbors down to the south at southern miss.
I also believe people closer to the scoreboard will be very surprised by the picture quality provided off-axis. You will be able to see it better than you think.
Nothing was mentioned, but when the day comes and we bowl in the endzone and add club level and skyboxes..those will be the best seats for the new board.
Speakers are up on top of the board, but as reported already..the audio will not be complety installed and configured until after the board is done, so expect progress starting on that next week or the week after.
Unknown timetable for completion of the project, will largely be determined on the weather.
On a last note, to anyone tailgating this weekend..a friendly suggestion of don't draw any un-needed attention to youself this weekend especially concerning alcohol...There will be a lot more eyes watching things this weekend.
