Several major points I took away from the Bury speech:

1) Stans has never had all 5 starters back and he is pretty damn excited about it. Phil Turner is hurt but will be ready for practice in a couple of weeks; Elgin Bailey is not progressing well with the rehab from the ankle injury, Stans say it was one of the worst ankle injuries he's ever seen.

2) I didn't realize the impact of Riek- Stans say he works extremely hard, is a ridiculous physical specimen (as in can stand on the floor and grab the rim) and he will probably foul out of every game b/c he plays hard and "doesn't really do English" very well.

3) He confirmed that Kodi knocked the hell out of Sidney- he said "I wasn't there, I didn't see it, but I did see Sid's mouth, and it wasn't pretty" (or something like that)

4) He says Sidney SHOULD be eligible, but said "it's a wait and see deal." He said Sidney is out of shape but he can be 75% in shape and probably still be the best offensive player on the floor, unbelievable skill set.

5) He was very appreciative of the fans, and says the practice facility will make us all very proud "as the front door to the hump"

I hope that Stans is right about Sidney, just wishful thinking. But from the comments you just gave it seems that Stans was shooting from the hip about our players and our team. Im looking VERY forward to this season and am anxious to see how things go.

Neither does Stans.

Last night he refused to put an "s" on the end of anything that should have been plural. Ex.> "varnado weighs about two hundred & two pound." no s on pounds. All jokes aside, however you feel about Stans on the x's and o's, he seemed to be genuinely happy to see everyone there and shook everybody's hand there at least twice. He gets an "A" for fan interaction effort last night.

On a side note, why is sixpack sponsors advertising Identigene, DNA paternity tests on the right side?

for the first few games and the potential of Sidney being sidelined for an undetermined number of games, we just got fairly thin in the post for the first third of the season. Basically we have Varnado and Augustus starting with Lewis and, possibly out of necessity, Osby backing up the 5 and 4 respectively.

rugbdawg, the ads are different for each poster based on where they've been on the net. What sites have you been looking at to get Identigene?

A few years ago I got an email and resume' in responsive to ad's looking for engineers. The dude had attached a copy of the lab results of a paternity test. I wrote him back and said, "well I can see why you want the job, but can you send me something that describes your engineering experiences." He never replied.

could always be backing it up with one of the 3 feces'. I like Osby with a year under his belt and some offseason training. With the exception of a few players, most of our talented forwards have progressed every year under stans. Even Varnado had problems his freshman year. If the post bench isn't working, we can always go to a temp 4 guard lineup which worked well last year.

it kills me when you see that these guys are so out of shape that the coach "could" get them to 75%. what the hell? why would you let yourself go that far in the first place? this guy isn't even 6 months removed from playing high school ball and is less than 75%? what an idiot.

Stans has laid the foundation for one of the best seasons ever at MSU. I would say anything less than Sweet 16 should be considered a disappointment. The time is right to win it all in the SEC. Calipari is a year or two away from dominance at Kentucky so Stans needs to strike win it now while it is still easy to do.

I've seen Ravern on campus a couple times this year, and his hair doesn't look much different than it does in that picture. It looks like a shorter version of Buckwheat.

to that list. He will be a solid 4 year player for us and is good friends with Johnny O'Bryant. Also, O'Bryant is as quick as Rasheed Wallace. He would be an unreal player for us.

......a Sweet 16 appearance for this team. Anything less would truly be disappointing. It's time for 'bury's team to step it up. I've been a fan of his, and still am, but at some point the expectations have to be lived up to. This team is setting up as our best shot in a while.

Stans engaging in some major coach speak in points 2 and 4.
