Went for a run in Ann Arbor this morning and slipped under a fence where some construction is happening.<div>
</div><div>Impressions?.. I was underwhelmed. It's very drab inside the bowl. Very plain. Many, many places where it's showing it's age too. The sky/press boxes on either side are in desperate need of a few gallons of fresh, blue paint.</div><div>
</div><div>The restrooms are top notch though. No Templeton Troughs.</div><div>
</div><div>In our decks, you may be high but in their cheap seats you're practically watching the game from Detroit. You're a LONG way back.</div><div>
</div><div>I spent an hour walking around. I could go on. Gist?.... Meh.</div>

I agree 100%. It's dug so far down its very underwhelming. The street outside of it is basically at the top of the bowl. I think TV usually does a pretty good job of masking that.

I liked Ann arbor though. Downtown was cool. A lot of open face bars and cafes. Neat town.

ETA: I'd rather be steep and closer to the field like in Gainesville (steepest stadium Ive ever been in) than way back from the field like the top row here.

Flying back from Oregon in 02, I crossed paths with a guy flying back from the UWash vs Mich game. He pretty much described the stadium as you did.

And I had the same impressions way back then. I didn't even know we had driven right by the stadium on the way into town, because its just so short. Official attendance was over 105,000, but it did not look or sound like it. It was Labor Day Weekend, rainy, and freakin' COLD....I had to borrow a coat.

2001ish? UM vs your Penn State Lions when Johnson (Larry I think) was PSU QB.
1. The place is huge.
2. Jo Pa had little to do with on field anything.
3.The women talked like sailors. Literally.
4.The student section is amazing.
5.Graveyard quiet compared to most SEC stadiums, due simply to design, I think. The fight song involving the crowd is pretty awesome, as is the band.
6.It seats so many because you are in each other's laps. Smallest butt space I've ever experienced, and I'm not a big dude.

Mich alum told me when they expanded the stadium capacity one year, all they did was narrow the butt space and sell more tickets.

but I've been on the outside of it, and it looks like the seats almost vertical and very high above the ground. That's the steepest I've ever seen. Didn't think Florida was all that bad. I suppose it's a matter of perception.

And is usually filled with an inordinate number of ugly chicks and dorks. But it's a cool stadium in which to watch a game.
