What an awesome documentary that was... I'm only 26 so I didn't know much about him outside of his guarantee and when he tried to kiss Suzy Kolber.<div>
</div><div>After reading Those Guys Have All the Fun and watching this Documentary, Suzy Kolber handled that with about as much class possible. Also, Glad to see Joe has once again started to turn his life around...</div>

Yea, Im 24 and loved it.. My favorite part was him getting a massive wad of Redman chew in the middle of practice..

Ahhhh, the sports stars of yesteryear, tobacco chewing, whiskey drinking men who could get away with playing a championship game hungover and wearing a full length fur coat on the sidelines.. <div>

Did the documentary mention that? You guys, being 24 and 26, may not even know what pantyhose are since (thankfully) girls don't wear them any more.<div>
</div><div>Joe was quite the character, and certainly not typical of athletes of the day. He stayed in trouble with the Bear his entire career, and if I remember correctly, Mrs. Bryan sort of took him as a son and basically saved his career, at least in college. Sometimes my memory is not as good as I think though. :) He had really bad knees and skinny legs ... I thought he was going to break in two every time he was hit. And to me, he looked awkward. But he was a heckuva quarterback.</div>

I grew up on Long Island and was right in my formative years (born 1960) when Joe Namath came to the New York Jets. I named my pet Boa Constrictor after him because it had a black marking like a Fu Manchu on its snout. He is still my favorite football player.

The show really brought back many of my childhood memories and kind of choked me up at times.

What was most telling to me was to think about the Jets during Hard Knocks. There was an F-bomb every few minutes during that show. Now I guarantee that is how Joe Namath spoke in the day. They did catch one F-Bomb when he was sitting down for the retirement announcement. However, all his comments during the interview he never cusses even though it is HBO. Just a difference of how people used to act in a public forum and how we act now.

Now I have cussed my whole life and really have never objected to that type of language, but maybe we have gone a little too far and need to go back to being a little more formal and civil in public.

Wasn't much on and it was so interesting the first time, so I watched it the second time it ran.

I now have a much different perspective on the legend who is Joe Namath. His whole story is very intriguing. From how he didnt pass the college boards to attend Maryland. The Maryland coach calling the Bear and telling him to take this Namath kid (Bryant was atMaryland in his first head coaching gig, before he left for Kentucky). His happy go lucky, joking demeanor always seemed too cocky before I watched this documentary. He was just a big kid who never really grew up and got to live out his dream.

Damn he always hadsome fine girl with him. He must have 17ed around with a ton of them during his days in NY. He had a diff one in every screen shot or pic.
