but financially, in the 20 years he has been at State - you would have to guess he has made 15-17 million. So overall, he had a good run.

I have no sympathy for someone that made that much money and is now unemployed. Give me 15-17 mil over 20 years and I'll give hi fives to the person that fires me as I head to Florida for retirement.

unbelievable.

I hate it for Stans and Meo and their kids. But he can retire and just raise his kids and spend time with his family, he's made a lot of dough in the last 14 years. This also allows our program to move forward, I think Stans simply lost control of it.

Welcome back, Coach. You were right all along. 17 the haters.

Coach34, not 24 hours ago, said .../"Dont blame Keenum or Stricklin- they actually wanted to do the right thing- but some really big boosters tied their hands on this one. One
more year. One more Groundhog Day. Stansbury's buddies have got him one last season, and he gets to go out a loser."

Any 17n body can be 'RIGHT' when they pick both sides.

I talked to him last night and he said he was just burnt out. I told him if that was the case, no problem. I'll see you in a year on here and if you ever post one negative thing about basketball again, this board ought to run your *** off. By the way, he said he knew the Sidney ordeal cost him and he was tired of the chaos and folks attaking him and particularly his family. Now,I will support whomever Scott brings in .

That was pretty obvious, both he and the team appeared that way.

I think he has been burnt out ever since he considered leaving for Clemson. I couldn't imagine having to spend that much time with those "pre-Madonnas".</p>

Don't feel bad for them. They got to coach division one basketball, something they had no business doing. Good for them.

think he did just get tired of all of the chaos and soap opera within his own program. It is difficult to control the AAU mentality of the college basketball player of today and even harder for a non-disciplinarian type like Stansbury.

would have been if he had taken the Clemson job. Probably would have injected life back into Stans and would have prevented him getting "retired" here at MSU.

I have to respect anyone who is 70-80 yrs old going back and forth with a bunch of 30-somethings on the computer, even ifhe iswrong some of the time.

Dawgbreeze takes some pretty rough shots and keeps on ticking.

To blindly defend Rick's coaching gothis *** in a sling, but to defend Rick the man, the dad, the friend, is honorable.

Coach seems to have mentioned somehow being palswith Jackie Sherrill way back when. He likely would have been the one defending Coach Sherrill to the end back when he lost his fire coaching and crashed and burned. I expecthe and C34 more similar than you would like to admit. Can't we all just get along? 34 should come here and suggestDawgbreeze continue posting, it is the merciful thing to do, especially with DS's blessing.

stepped out then rather than have to endure the crap that has been thrown at his family. That was the part that pissed me off. Attacking his family was low in my book because they are not public figures. If you want to bash him, go ahead, but the family should have been left out of it. Yeah, you can argue that he placed them there but that still doesn't excuse it for me. The internet allows people to say anything without any fear of recourse, so it is left up to the character of the poster.

I have stood by Rick all the way through even when I was pissed about several situations. It wasn't blind loyalty, just whomever is representing my University deserves my support. They deserve the criticism too and I vented it, just not in a public fashion.

I do hope the administration makes a smart hire. Just because you demand something doesn't always mean you get it.

I will support the new coach just as strongly as I did Rick.

Stans had another year to get things turned around if he wanted it. Granted that was going to be tough since next year will likely be a "rebuilding" year. Anyway Stans decided on his own he was tired of all the divisiveness in the fan base over his program and he was just burned out with everything which has been obvious from his body language. So we will get the retirement today. This will be Stricklin's biggest hire to date so let's all hope he gets it right.

He just seemed to be going thru the motions without his normal sideline and court stalking. I hate it. He goes down as the all time winningest coach in MSU history and should be remembered for the good not the last 3 Sidney years. He did a lot of good for MSU and hopefully will continue to do so. I hope he talks to all of the incoming guys and reassures them that MSU will be in good hands without him as coach. We don't need any of them jumping ship!

and how we needed him for Pollard

and I will assure you, we need him for Pollard because Rick had him. Now, go gloat some more and maybe your butt will quit acting like you know everything. You had said yourself you thought he would be back but I think he cares a hell of a lot more about MSU than you do. Your only claim to fame is being a message board jockey and I assure this as well, Scott is not going to call you for finding the replacement. Hopefully he is way ahead of the curve on that subject and I can live with whomever he hires.

I expect he'll put out the same article that he wrote about Larry Templeton. He'll discuss how great Stans was and how crazy we are for getting rid of him.

And in a year or two it will be obvious we made the right decision.
