they were scrolling that the SEC had announced that they would not invite miami, fsu, ga. tech, nor clemson. And didn't va. tech announce that they were not interested in joining the sec?

The Okies are going wherever Texas goes. The 14th member will be either VA Tech or Missouri. There won't be a 15th or 16th member. And Miami would't even be on the SEC's radar at all. I can easily think of 10 schools we'd take before them. And even if they all turned us down, we'd stand pat before adding Miami. They bring nothing to the table. The only school the SEC wouldeven considerfrom Florida would be FSU.

If aTm to the SEC becomes reality, it will be interesting to see in the coming years if aTm begins to take over recruiting in Texas due to kids wanting to play in the SEC opposed to the Pac-10.

if they wind up in the SEC and Texas winds up in the PAC-16, A&M will be on much more even footing with Texas than they've ever been. And I still contend that the PAC-16 will break apart within a decade. I just don't think the revenue will live up to the wild projections we're seeing and the travel and completely different cultures will break the league apart. The PAC-16 is just the Big 12 on steroids. A complete mismatch of schools. When the SEC expanded in 1990, we added teams that made sense. If we add Texas A&M and VA Tech, that will make sense. Those schools are basically SEC schools who happen to play in another conference right now. The PAC-16 makes no sense at all.

when the Big12 fans show up atCal or Stanford for the first time. Did you say culture shock! Not that one is better than the other, just vastly different.

the schools that we have added, make sense.

I do think that A&M will do the same. And I think we will bring in teams to offset.

Not sure on the Pack 16 breaking up, but who knows. (I did not see the Big 12 falling apart).

The WAC already tried this, and it failed miserably. And that was a very similar conference- a hodge podge of West Coast teams and Southwest Conference leftovers. The WAC ended up breaking up into the Mountain West and WAC.

The funny thing is, when this PAC-16 or whatever breaks up, it will essentially be a reformed Southwest Conference with the old Big 12 teams and the two teams in Arizona and probably Utah should things go down like I think they will, and the old PAC-8 teams.

And yeah, the WAC didn't have any big name schools like USC, Texas, or Oklahoma, but I think there will be some very similar issues that will arise.

I just can't see USC and Texas getting along in this thing. Maybe they will, but SC, while smaller, has a pretty good bit of money and clout in their own right.

I totally agree. There are only a few schools out there that would fit in the SEC and TAMU & VT are two of the best (along w/ FSU, and to a lesser extent GaTech, Miami and Clemson).

would be a good fit with the SEC. I married into a Miami family butUM ain't a "good" fit for the SEC. I think they would bring a LOT to the table but they are an exclusive private school that happens to have a great football and baseball team. Think Vandy that wins at football. I think both the old line SEC and the Miami folks would be suprised at how benefical each would be to the other (YES, even the Gators) but Miami is a good bit different from every current SEC member.

I firmly believe that Texas is scarred shitless of the thought now of them being in the pac 10 and A&M being in the SEC... apparently A&M has had a huge amount of pressure on them to go where Texas goes.. or at least not go to the SEC.. if they go to the SEC, that screws up what apparently seems to be plans by the non SEC teams to create some super conferences and limit if not stop the SEC from expanding into new t.v. markets... I have no doubt a&m would start dominating recuiting in texas if this were to happen and I just can't help but believe that the texas fans also understand this...

I think we are in for some huge turn arounds and surprises next week.... if the A&M deal comes through..

No way in hell that Texas wants to have to play LSU, ALA, AUB, TN, FLA, GA on a regular basis in football. They are used to only having 1 or 2 teams a year that are tough games. Plus, I doubt that ALA wants to have Texas in the SEC (realizing, of course, these brain dead goobers here in Ala think that no one can possible compete with them.

to dethrone them as kings of texas football... a&m would do that and they know it..

texas will NOT go to the pac 10 and watch a&M go to the sec...

sure they would rather play the softer schedule out west, but they would be committing suicide by allowing the above to happen and I can't see it ....

The bama people are bad enough and from what it sounds like, texas people are just as bad. Maybe cause A&M has been kicked around by texas is why I would want to add them. That being said I hope we dont expand anyway
