There's just a little irony in the fact that both Nutt and Peterson have made stops at Boise State. Once upon a time Miami of Ohio was called the Cradle of Coaches. Has the cradle moved to Idaho?

I agree Dreb, for the exact reasons you state. Hope we're wrong....but I don't think Petersen is a southern guy at all.

Urban Meyer isn't either, I'd be happy with him as our coach.

Urban Meyer grew up in Ohio, Chris Petersen grew up in California. Quite a bit of difference on which one would fit in better at a southern school, wouldn't ya say.

I don't think any of us know, but Greg is not LT as coach stated. He has been on this for a while and if he could land Petersen, he is one hell of an AD and in my opinion he is better than any we've had in my lifetime which goes 6 decades.

I don't really know what to tell you. (Note: Before you freak out, those exact same differences exist between Ole Miss and Florida).

You are not going to get Chris Peterson. I think you will have a shot at the other 4 guys, but not Peterson. This is just like after we fired Cutcliffe and every Ole Miss fan was proclaiming that we were going to hire Bobby Petrino (which now may not be that great, but at the time would have been similar to you hiring Peterson now). When a coach is going to have a lot of good options (this year or down the line), neither one of our schools is worth the gamble. You may give him a million dollar raise, but so will several other schools, and he isn't walking into the same division as LSU, Alabama, and Auburn at those other schools.

How satisfying can it be to go undefeated and not even be in the discussion for the national title? It's not clear that undefeated seasons at MsSt would necessarily get you in that hunt either, but to work with a friend for more money in the prestige conference tips scales.
