She said Byrne has explained to Crooms that he either has to win or change- if he doesnt, he wont have a job next year. Croom supposedly reacted the way he normally does, but has since begun working on making some changes it appears- thus the sudden appearance of pressure being on him to fix the offense and need to defend it, Bowser to offense, Al Bourges rumors....

My question to all that is this- Who in their right mind would agree to come be offensive coordinator for Crooms? I think Bourges is his only shot, cause he is trying to get HS jobs right now....this could get interesting

That sounds better to me. I don't see him winning, but do see him trying with as much change as he can muster. I do not think he has it in him... Good for Byrne.

moving Blowser to O is fixing the O. I'd call that "fixing the D."

I'd like to quiz your source a little more. When "she" says that Byrne told Croom to "win or change," or else "he wont have a job next year," that statement has a lot of holes in it. Here's why. "Change" could mean that Croom gets rid of most of his O staff and replaces them at the end of the year. Croom would necessarily "have a job next year" because he would have "changed" as Byrne instructed, leaving Byrne with no reason to fire his ***.

Did you understand your "source" to imply that Byrne's demand for change was immediate? i.e., get rid of McCorvey mid-season (ala Tony Franklin)?

if he stuck to his guns and said I'm not changing anything (like he's claimed for 4 years). He'd get fired but at least he stuck to his so called principles. But at the end of the day, Croom will fold like a cheap seat to save his fat butt even if it means throwing his buddies under the bus. Crap, he's been throwing the fans under the bus for years. But he's a man of integrity!

is IF Croom can step away and let someone else run their offense OR if he was simply trying to protect his buddy Woody by calling plays.

I think Croom will be a better HC by allowing the other assistant coaches to do their jobs. Hopefully, he will do the smart thing and let someone take the reigns.

If I was Al Borges, and I didn't have a job, I would happily take the MSU job, even if it's for one year.

He hasn't really proven to be dynamic on offense.

He needs really good players for his offense to be good. I think trying to run conventional offenses for both OM and MSU is stupid because most teams in the SEC will out talent us all day. You have to exploit matchups that are favorable or at the very least make the defense play a defense that takes some of their better players on the field.

At the end of the day though Croom runs the offense, so does it really matter unless he gives up complete control, and who here thinks he would do that?

of the custodial service industry in the past, you mean to tell me I got my hopes up on the word of a janitor. ****, I guess I will go back to thinking we will be stuck with the walrus for another year.

I can at least plan to spend my annually allocated money for season tickets for another year on something more meaningful.

After preaching 'doing things the right way' and 'no quick fixes', he goes out and burns a red shirt on a guy 8 games into the season by giving him the ball on the 2nd play of the game and not giving it to him again, saying he's not worried about the future, but rather trying to win a game today. The man is a walking contradiction. And he can go %++$ himself.

posted on here that Croom would have a very difficult time attracting an up and coming OC...maybe some old fart, but that's about it. Of course, with his stated agenda, he believes that it's up to head coaches to hire black coordinators, so I suppose he might be able to do that...only problem is where are there any of that ilk have proven much of anything?

Mr. Doing it the right way would fire every assistant faster than he could say Bear Bryant to save his 1.7 mil cash cow. Croom is the same idiot that thinks his offense is just a few excuted plays away from putting up Texas Tech or Florida numbers. He isn't going to change anything, fact is he is probably scared to try something new. Woody will resign due to health reasons after the Egg Bowl and we will end up with someone like Bill Callahan as OC bringing a "fresh perspective" of the WCO to Starkville.

If you believe getting rid of Woody is the answer to our offensive whoas, then you read the wrong question. This offense is 100% CC. I know who has the title of OC, but Woody ain't totally calling the shots here and I care to not elaborate any further.

one bit. The problem is the ***** way of playing that Croom lives by. Be as vanilla as possible, run as much time off the clock as possible, try to have no turnovers and no penalties, and hope to make a play on special teams. The problem is that you are not trying to score at any point in this equation. You are just hoping that by doing these things you will come out on top with more points. This is a ***** attitude!!! Win the game by being better at offense, defense, and special teams not by trying your best to not make any mistakes. Dude is a ***** plain and simple, and he gets out coached every week because he plays scared football.
