there's still an issue to me that I have not heard addressed very much, and that is how terrible we have faded in the second half of the season in all of stoops years. I get we are playing tougher teams and over the course of the season you get injuries etc, yet I feel your team should be showing improvement, we seem to get worse.
You have touched on something I was a bit hesitant to bring up, i.e., recruiting. Unprecedented recruiting success has been recognized as the high point of the Stoops era so far. If we acknowledge that these coaches are "good at what they do" and there is improvement in performance on the field, all is good. However, after acknowledging the coaching is good, and there is not improvement in performance on the field, doesn't that mean the talent level was not as good as expected? Speaking in generalities of course. Injuries for example (see Baylor) can create some clear exceptions.I...They have a couple of guys that are apparently good at what they do. Now, can they either 1) help recruit elite level players to make UK competitive in the SEC, or 2) win in the SEC with a bunch of guys that the other league schools either didn't want or didn't prioritize...
Should know something after the first game. If they are worth their salt, we should beat Southern Miss. I'd already counted that game as a loss before they were hired.Thoughts?
Myself I think very important. Both are proven at what they do. I didn't think I could be excited about next year after that Louisville debacle, but I am excited again.
Rowland posted on Twitter that a QB who Gran was on will be visiting UK. Don't have a subscription to see who though
Imo brown did a very good job with what he had to work with..He played 4 freshman with a first year qb and scored enough points to win both the ms st and ga games..should have won the fl and ul game in there house as well!!! You can bwt your house he would have won 8 games if he was the oc this year, maybe more!Gran and Hinshaw have a very good work history in SEC football, something neither Brown or Dawson had!
A guy from Cali, a 2017 guy

agreed. he needs to show improvement and make a bowl to have anyone at the games in '17 but he'll be the coach for 2 more years guaranteed.Stoops is already 'saved' for the 2016 season. It's the end of the 2017 season when Stoops gets the best or worst performance review.
I'd say they're essentially the exact same as every other hire UK football has made in the last 60 years. They have a couple of guys that are apparently good at what they do. Now, can they either 1) help recruit elite level players to make UK competitive in the SEC, or 2) win in the SEC with a bunch of guys that the other league schools either didn't want or didn't prioritize. Typically, UK coaches go 0-2 and end up being fired.
At this point, I just hope UK gets lucky and finds some coaches that can develop players. For example, maybe one of these new coaches will teach UK quarterbacks that throwing a football at mach speed on a short crossing route isn't really the touch needed for that particular pass (LOL).
GBB!!!
I take that despite UK's apparent improved recruiting under Stoops that most are still "a bunch of guys that the other league schools either didn't want or didn't prioritize" IYO? Thanks. They have a couple of guys that are apparently good at what they do. Now there's a positive New Years mindset....In the end this will look about like Kragthorpe's hire of Ron English.
It will either save Stoops or sink Stoops
Rowland put on twitter its for 2016.
In the six games comprising the second half of each of Stoops' three seasons, his record is 2-16. I suspect that Gran jumped on board with his assistant thinking that the'll have a shot at the the job following next year's season. Stoops' will be on the hottest of seats next year (with no bowl in sight).
In the end, I'm not a fan at all of the scheme Gran is bringing to UK in the SEC. I think a scheme of non running QBs in the spread/air raid scheme isn't a great idea at UK....but we'll see how it pans out.
Besides Marrow, they're probably the best two hires he's made. I wanted both when he was hired originally.
