I compared him to the most MSU 3-point attempts per game I could find in the last 10 years. Then compared him to some of the more popular NCAA 3-point shooters. And finally compared him to a combination of MSU's top two three point shooters each of the last 10 years.

Henderson averaged the most per game since 2009. He shoots about as good as Barry Stewart but shoots more than record holders like Stephen Curry or JJ Redick.

Marshall Henderson -- 394 attempts, 10.94 per game (leads the nation), 35%

MSU leaders
Ravern Johnson 2011 -- 206 attempts, 7.4 per game, 40%
Dee Bost 2012 -- 217 attempts, 6.6 per game, 35%
Barry Stewart 2010 -- 222 attempts, 6.2 per game, 35%

Random NCAA comparisons
David Holston 2009 -- 394 attempts, 12.3 per game, 37%, 394 is the most attempts in a season I could find
Stephen Curry 2008 -- 369 attempts, 10.3 per game, 44%, holds single season record for 3-pt made
JJ Redick 2006 -- 330 attempts, 9.2 per game, 42%, holds career record for 3-pt made
Chris Lofton 2008 -- 307 attempts, 8.5 per game, 38%, holds SEC career record for 3-pt made
Keith Veney 1997 -- 320 attempts, 11.0 per game, 40%, hold record for most 3-pt made in a game

MSU top two leaders per season
Bowers + Frazier -- 386 attempts, 12.9 per game
Stewart + Ravern 2010 -- 436 attempts, 12.1 per game
Bost + Steele 2012 -- 395 attempts, 12.0 per game

Randy Stewart as good as MH. Very interesting. I know one thing, Stewart

was a much better defender than Henderson ever thought about being. Here's the thing about MH though, he is relentless in trying to get open and will run a defender to death, plus he's got such a quick release.

MH is certainly active trying to get open, but I think he hurt UM by shooting too much. I guess the problem for UM was that they didn't have anyone who could shoot 3's any better than him.

Look at their last three losses --- 1 point to South Carolina, 6 points to MSU, and 2 points to La Salle. His 3-point % was less than 30% in all three of those games. I guess I've never been one to buy into the whole "a shooter has to keep shooting" mentality... at least not to the point of letting a guy go 3-18. It's one thing for your best 3-point shooter to miss 5 or 6 shots in a game, but missing 9 or 10 shots? A team can't overcome that against a decent opponent. A few higher % shots here & there and those guys may still be playing.

But anyway - I just thought it was amazing the guy averaged about as many 3-point attempts per game as our top two shooters combined over the last 10 years.

He takes too many bad and/or hurried shots.

In the second half of the game vs Lasalle, he actually penetrated into the lane and dished to an open big man a couple of times. With his shooting ability, the defenders have to guard him close outside. That, coupled with his ability to drive, means he should be able to get better shots for himself and his teammates (he can hit those little floaters in the lane too).

MSU's entire team shot 151-531 for 28.4%.

Marshall Henderson shot 138-394 for 35%.

He made 13 less 3's than the entire MSU team and shot 137 less times.
